The only niggle is that it won’t have CarPlay Or Android Auto. That may not seem like a big deal but isn’t a not a small deal either.
Native infotainments can be laggy but worst of all, they are loaded with abandonware. Some of the apps stop being updated or working after 12-24 months. Alternatively, once warranty expertise, you are charged $xxx per year to access connected features which are usually not up to date with more recent car models.
With CarPlay you as an owner achieve feature parity in any car you connect your phone to. Wireless CarPlay in my 2006 W211 works the same as it does in a 2016 Golf or a 2023 i7. Regardless of car, everything is in-sync and all I need to do is to manage the content on a single device.
When fully integrated Carplay/AndroidAuto with multi screen support rolls out in the next 12 months, Cadillac’s decision will look even more regrettable.
We can’t miss what we have never had. But once you been given something, become used to it, you will rebel if someone tries to take it away.
