Corvette (C7) [Official] Chevrolet Corvette (C7)

The Chevrolet Corvette (C7) is the seventh generation of the Corvette sports car manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet from 2014 until 2019. The first C7 Corvettes were delivered in the third quarter of 2013. The racing variants include the C7.R, which won the GTLM 24 Hours of Le Mans.
I would still take the GT3, but the Z06 is very tempting.

I could do without the white rear light also. Tint it black, and then we're talking.

Wow those are very good #s for 6 speed.

572 rwhp & 590 rwtq and a fat & flat torque curve. Love it.
Assume 15% drivetrain loss = 658 hp & 678.5 tq.

Old ZR1 with 6 speed Pretty much in line with all the other dynos of ZR1s I've seen. Highest I ever saw was 532rwhp.

2015 Corvette Z06 vs C6 Corvette ZR1 Dyno Comparison Shows Why the Z06 Feels Faster

Once the automotive world found out GM was rolling out a supercharged 2015 Corvette Z06, people just couldn't resist the temptation to mentally compare this to the C6 ZR1. Giving in to this guilty pleasure, we are bringing you a dyno comparo between the two generations of blown 'Vettes.

The adjacent dyno sheet, which comes from theCorvette Forum, shows us a battle between a stock 2010 ZR1 (pictured with the dark blue line - RunFile_001) and a just-as-stock 2015 C7 Z06 manual (shown in the lighter shade of blue - baseline.stock_001).

The first conclusion here is that the Z06's LT4 motor offers extra torque below 5,000 rpm. This is what has determined many people that have driven both to state the Z06 feels faster than the ZR1. To put it another way, the new car is more responsive and will thus tickle your funny bone more effectively.

Nonetheless, when it comes to racing, the superior low-rev muscle doesn't help all that much. Out on the track, you'll want to keep your engine high in the revs anyway, while when it comes to drag racing, the same applies once you pass 50 mph in first gear.

However, once you pass 5,250 rpm or so, the two motors show incredibly close results on the dyno.

Comparing the cars altogether

Pitting the ZR1's LS9 against the Z7 Z06' LT4 is one thing and comparing the cars is another thing.

So far, various straight line testing sessions have shown the Z06 is faster up to 120-130 mph (200 km/h). The ZR1 takes the lead after that, with the gain arriving thanks to two factors. First of all, the Z06 is about 170 lbs (77 kg heavier), while the 2015 car also generates more downforce, something you really want when you're driving in the triple-digit area.

As for when we factor in some bends, the more sophisticated suspension and better weight distribution, among others, allow the Z06 to turn better, while braking is also superior in the newer car.

All in all, the C7 Z06 is the better balanced car and it was only natural for it to be so.

Very nice car, the engine sounds great and delivers huge punch. Combine this huge power with superb braking and grip and it looks like a convincing rival for much more expensive European sports cars

They mention it "has far more performance (than Porsche 911 GTS and Aston V8 Vantage), exceeding even the 911 Turbo S". This is incorrect as a number of American magazines have road tested the Z06 and the performance figures have all been slower than the 911 Turbo S, including the top speed which is 12mph (18km/h) slower.

This is C/D test figures for the 911 Turbo S

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 2.6 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 6.5 sec
Zero to 150 mph: 16.5 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 3.8 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 2.1 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 2.3 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 10.8 sec @ 126 mph
Top speed (drag limited, mfr's est): 198 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 144 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 1.09 g

This is C/D test figures for the Corvette Z06:

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.0 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 6.8 sec
Zero to 160 mph: 22.9 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 3.2 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 1.7 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 2.2 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.1 sec @ 127 mph
Top speed (C/D est): 185 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 128 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 1.19 g

But the performance on the track, the Z06 will not give chances to the 911 Turbo S. I believe that neither the 911 GT3 RS will be faster.

I am looking forward to when AS will do a Supertest on the Z06 to see how it will do on the Ring and Hockenheim against the 911 Turbo S time.

Oh, how my heart yearns for a Z06! What is it with me and this car?!? :hearts2:

Damn you GM, damn you for not bringing this thing in RHD. There's something so massively appealing (probably because it's so different) about this true blue (no not Ford oval blue) American supercar.

I'd much rather have a Cayman GT4 over this, really.

Ja, captain obvious... :p This isn't a discussion about this car over that car... Of course if I was spending that kind of money my head would rule over my heart.

But I said heart. And my heart - unthinking thing that it is - wants that supercharged, balls-to-the-wall, earth-shaking unique experience that is the Z06 for that kind of money. I'd absolutely love to come home to one of these as my weekend runabout.
