Passat CC Official: New Passat CC 4-door Coupe

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

It does compound my confusion over VW's inconsistency ....but it is really nice looking. :usa7uh:

I guess this means the next Phaeton won't be a "four-door coupé" after all :t-hands:

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

It doesn't look like a Volkswagen instantly. For some reason it makes me think of Saab. :eusa_thin
Funny you should say that .....I thought it was just me :):usa7uh:

Notice that BMW-like ridge running along the body.

Very good interior.

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

I'm not sure what to think to be honest. It is indeed very nice, but it also very unlike-a-Volkswagen.

It looks nice (so does Pheaton).
Yet it really gives an appearance of a mix of Audi & BMW. With a touch of Peugeot (horrible proportions!!!)

My question: what is this? Who will buy a Passat Coupe? :t-hands:
OK, premium brands like MB, Audi, Porsche, AM, BMW etc where image is more important than anything else .... But VW 4dr coupe? I'd rather buy an used CLS instead for that price.

I'm afraid this will be a flop - just like Pheaton is / was.

Btw, haven VW officails talking something about a US market not getting this car, yet getting a MPV, and two new sedans - Jetta & Passat based but more suitable for US market.

Also: VW officials are saying they want to surpass Toyota ... Dear Sirs, not with such vehicles like this one. Leave niche crossover vehicles for the premium brand in your portfolio: Audi.

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

Much better proportionned than the catastrphic sedan.

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

I don't mind it, but it looks less like a coupe than the CLS. The front overhang is too long and the tail is a little too short. The side profile looks a bit odd.

That's my confusion with VW these days.

They don't seem to know what kind of car manufacturer they are supposed to be anymore -- they want to be recognized as a luxury car manufacturer but still want to build cars that compete with Honda Civics. Their design department seems completely lost ....I guess they reflect the identity crisis going on with the marque in general.

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

i really don't see the advantage this car has over the normal passat sedan - even the normal sedan has a coupé like siluette...

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

^ Does the CLS has any "advantage" over a normal E class?

This car will not be purchased with any consideration of an "advantage" --- this is purely about offering a "lifestyle product" ...a slightly more exclusive variation of a mainstream product. It is more about personal style choice than anything practical.

There are no lifestyle products without real lifestyle brand behind. And VW is definitely not a lifestyle brand. Period.

What's next? Skoda & Seat with their respective 4dr coupes???? :t-crazy2:

Although VAG / PAH are occupying all the price segments within every possible vehicle segment - including this 4dr coupe segment:

possible Bentley 4dr coupe > Panamera > A7 > Passat Coupe > possible Skoda / Seat 4dr coupe

Smart move?

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

Can't say I hate nor love it. It's not that bad actually although the tail lights could have been less VW-ish(the rings). The interior is not as exquisite like I wanted it to be, a bit too similar to the Golf. I wish that they had differentiated it a bit more from the Passat so that car wouldn't be named Passat Coupe, which will be a turn off for some people.

Don't know why but from the B pillar to the rear it reminds me of the BMW CS.

Volkswagen Passat CC breaks cover
Volkswagen’s long awaited Passat-based four-door coupe has been revealed just hours prior to its official world debut at this week’s Detroit Auto Show. The new model will be called simply the ‘CC’ and although it’s based on the Passat platform it sits 5cm lower and stretches 3cm more than the regular VW sedan.

The CC will come with three different petrol engine options including a 160hp 1.8L TSI, a 200hp 2.0L TFSI and a range topping 300hp 3.6L V6 FSI. Diesel fans will be able to opt from two different 2.0L motors developing 140 and 170hp respectively. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a seven speed DSG, and an AWD option is also available.

Re: Official: New Passat Coupe

since I like it in & out, my concern is the powertrain. Will it have 4-Motion as a standard + which engine, A V8 would be nice.

Edit: Ops, I guess i didn't see Bartek's post. Thanks. I think this car has a more interesting details than the CLS. The rear is executed better (hated the droppy rear of the CLS). The Interior looks and feels top notch + original (Although Passat inspired). If it only was RWD or RWD-Biased AWD.
