There have been several reviews that claim the new 308 interior is clearly ahead of the Golf 8. Which is not surprissing. Peugeot has been doing a stellar work lately, while VW quite the contrary.

Peugeot has to try harder, their cars remain a non factor. VW likely sells 10 Golfs when Peugeot sells 1 308. And a Golf 8 is like a generation more advanced than the 308.

Can't remember the last time Peugeot made a desirable product. Last must have been the 205 GTI and 106 XSI/Ralley.........

Yeah, but it's got nothing on a VW Polo.

And the 308 looks way too forced with awful proportions (Peugeot's biggest problem)

New Yaris is great as well. It’s VW the one unable to find its mojo IMO.

Yes, they went over the top with the 308. The 208 and specially the 508 look really nice.

My main gripe with the current Golf is that dumpy, melted-in-the-sun ala Gorden Wagoner look. The cousins at Seat an Skoda are way sharper

Design wise, I think the new Astra is the king of the segment

Golf VIII got cannibalized in Germany primary by the T-Roc and the T-Cross from what I have seen, but they get also get younger people in the Golf 8, compared to the more eldery clientele in the small VW CUVs. VW owners(in GER) are also actually very badge-conscious and don´t think very highly of Skoda or SEAT from my experience.

Nevertheless the killing of the E-Golf, Golf Sportsvan, the convertible and the nowadays higher pricing, compared to the Golf 7(30000€ for Golf 8 vs sub 20000€ for Golf 7 + lack of incentives) were not helpful either.

Polo is a full league above them IMO, looks wise too. Most all round, most tech, mature looks, solid interior, and sadly most expensive.

I am dying to drive a Yaris GR one day though. Should be absolutely epic.

I can't get over these disgusting FWD proportions with the 508. It would have been straight up brilliant with RWD, but alas.....

Wow. With a normal ride height it's the coolest Golf that I have seen. The Lambo inspired bonnet suits it.

Def the best looking hot hatch from Germany again.

The prefacelift was loosing it against the A-Class IMO, but now they get it simplified somehow looks way better.
But still the VII GTI and the first gen 1er remain best looking hatch from DE.

Even though it looks better now, I still prefer the A-class and A3 tbh.
