718 Boxster/Cayman [Official] Porsche 718 Boxster

The Porsche Boxster and Cayman are mid-engine two-seater sports cars manufactured and marketed by German automobile manufacturer Porsche across four generations—as a two-door, two-seater roadster (Boxster) and a three-door, two-seater fastback coupé (Cayman). Since the introduction of the fourth generation in 2016, the two models have been marketed as the Porsche 718 Boxster and Porsche 718 Cayman.
Drive it, then you're allowed to hate it.

Agreed. The character of the engine will be slightly dumbed down, but the performance is up A LOT, which will make for some pretty fun driving. I am occasionally left wanting from the performance of our Cayman GTS up at Johannesburg altitudes. Not always, just sometimes....

At face/video value on the new engine:
+ the best sounding 4 cylinder bar none!
+ it'll go like stink
- it's lost authenticity, has a small touch of Audi TT vibe going on :(

Just when the cayman was nipping on the heels of the 911 they neuter it! Well done Porsche. I'm glad that they resurrected the 914, nice to see it coincide with their engagement with VW. I think it looks smart, look forward to seeing them, although I agree with the person who opined that there is a bit of fiat barchetta in the snout, it definitely lost some roundness that Porsche was known for. I fear the panamera will echo this. I like it, I'm not buying one, so I don't have a strong opinion. If I had one of the six cylinders I would be a little confused. It seems like a downgrade, unless they saved 100kg in weight...

Heh heh, it sounds totally kak compared to the NA 6! I've heard STIs that sound better than that. Unmistakable as a Boxer 4 turbo though. Garglegarglezzsshhwoooshshshsh!

Horrible exhaust notes, what a shame. If you close your eyes, it could be a Subaru. Car looks brilliant otherwise to me.

Thanks @JHF that is a great video, I like those cutaways and shots inside the engine. With the sports exhaust the engine sounds fantastic. Okay not as great as the flat6 but still really good.

And when tuned: *fomp fomp fomp*

Good point! I totally forgot about that. We all know that the Boxster's chassis is more than capable of handling more than 400hp. Now that it's turbo charged it will be much easier to extract more power out of the engine and make the car more full filling.

As much as I criticised the car, the video above sells the car very well. 0-100km/h in 4.2 sec in such an agile package should be plenty fun.

Really? There are too many to even list. Almost every sporty NA 4 cyl engine from the past sounds better. Unless you specifically meant turboed 4 cyl engines, even then, Focus RS sounds much better (from the videos I have seen/heard so far).

That does NOT sound better!
