Defender [Official] The All-new 2020 Land Rover Defender (L663)

The Land Rover Defender (initially introduced as the Land Rover One Ten, and in 1984 joined by the Land Rover Ninety, plus the new, extra-length Land Rover One Two Seven in 1985) is a series of British off-road cars and pickup trucks. They consistently have four-wheel drive, and were developed in the 1980s from the original Land Rover series which was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in April 1948.
Well no one really cares what you think as it stands at 18-20 month waiting time for all variants right now.

There is your opinion and then there is reality.. 2 vastly different things.

Which they could eliminate by making more of them, very much like Rolex with the stainless steel versions of the Daytona, Submariner and GMT, the could easily make more but they drip feed the market.

You really don’t understand the luxury market do you?

Yeah, I am going to eat some crow. I am really digging this.

I want to see how durable this is. With all the tech, I am sure with increasing points of failure, Classic Defender will be more durable over its lifetime versus new-school Defender.

Agreed - I was overly cynical despite the fact that I still feel that the much of the characteristic DNA of the original Defender theme has been lost in the translation to the 21st century rendition.

This Defender is absolutely brilliant isn’t it. It ticks all the boxes, they’re making commercial versions, consumer versions, and I guess somewhere down the line there will be military versions, I’m betting it will kill off the Discovery. Who would want a Disco when the 110 is so much more vehicle.
I agree with you. What appeals to me is that it really does look like JLR have done the best they could with the means at their disposal. I like the fact that they've made a concerted effort to retain utilitarian attributes and practical considerations whilst delivering a product which has to be suitably modern, efficient and, most of all, as broadly appealing as possible. In this endeavour, I have to commend Land Rover for the outcome. Pity it doesn't look more like a Defender does, however.

Some specs:

RIDE HEIGHT

Maximum rear legroom second row 929mm

LOADSPACE CAPACITY

Ground clearance on coils springs at 225mm is very good for non-height adjustable suspension.

If you're interested in this vehicle, suggest you download the e-brochure - there's a Defender for seemingly everyone.

I hope this thing sells like hot cakes - a world without Land Rover would be poorer for it.

Bravo Land Rover, bravo. :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

I can imagine this car must have a huge options list for all the customization items.

Like for the predeccessor, there will be a wealth of aftermarket customisation by Khan, Urban, Overfinch, Chelsea Truck co etc.

The colour and upholstery options in the configurator are just step 1. We will see some smashing specs on the road.

Just because it has a high price and articically limited production doesn't make it a luxury product.

I've been driven around in a new G in St Petersburg, nice interior horrible ride, I wouldn't pay for the "privilege" of owning one even if I could afford it.

Just as an FYI Chelsea Truck Co are a brand owned by Afzal Kahn, his other brands are Project Kahn, Flying Huntsman and the Vengeance.

Twisted is probably my favourite purveyor of modified Defenders.

Ain't that a suprise. From digust to delight. The equivalent of @klier making getting around to liking the Mercedes EQC. :D

Gerry McGovern would shrug if he read this thread as his aim is for SVO to put all of these aftermarket brands out of business. He's a brilliant car designer and brand builder but is occassionally a bit arrogant.

The base Defender 90 tips the scales at a 2155 kg.
Wow surprised its this heavy. Imagine how much the 130 will weigh, maybe 2500kg.
