GT [Official] The all-new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé


The Mercedes-AMG GT is a series of 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. While not directly replacing the SLS AMG (competing in a different segment), it is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG.

It might seem a subtle shift of positioning, to go from a relatively hardcore sports car to a super GT - nothing more than the addition of practicality - but the GT comes across as a car more comfortable in its own skin. It’s lost a little character and toughness in the process, but it’s well resolved and gets AMG back on track after the curiously imbalanced SL and poorly received 4cyl C63 hybrid.

This is its flagship, its statement car: it keeps the roaring V8 alive a little longer and should attract more customers than the old GT. It’s lost its uniqueness, but gained a whole heap of capability."

It’s night-and-day better than its predecessor, retaining all of that car’s dynamic purpose and talents and adding greater finesse and control, better comfort and much more refinement at all times.

As for pricing, nothing is official yet, but expect the GT 63 to slightly undercut the £172,000 SL 63 at around £160,000. Meanwhile, its main rivals, the Aston Martin DB12 (which uses the same V8) and Porsche 911 Turbo (a flat-six), cost £188,000 and £162,000."

We all know that V8 is capable of so much more than what we have here.
They've invested a lot in the MSA platform, so I don't doubt for a minute a GT63S and GT63R will be release down the line with weight reduction and whatever else and perhaps a more powerful engine tune.

I think the most remarkable thing about it, is how its somehow more comfortable, and yet sportier than the predecessor. Really is quite an achievement.

I look forward to seeing how AMG develop this car and this platform. Seems like they can get a lot of mileage out it.

A slam dunk for AMG.

Sexy but sensual design, cutting edge interior tech, comfort, agility, growling V8 without hybrid BS.

This is peak Mercedes. Good to know that the 63 will be £10k speared than the SL63. The reviews and smiles in videos are night and day different to hybrid C63 and S63.

Ok, it looks and sounds good but why is it slower than its bigger brother GT63 4-doors and more expensive?
 
The reviews are all very positive seems finally AMG hit the mark after the C mess..

Thomas even says he would take this over a 911

Seems its has mercedes f1 style FRIC suspension that the FIA outlawed. Theres some hope for a GTR model after all
