I visited yesterday Porsche Museum and took the opportunity to offer me and my father some time in a Panamera Turbo with Porsche Drive Stuttgart.
We both drive very common cars (Laguna and Touran), so this will be a very subjective opinion.
First of all driving such a car is... at first frustuating because you cannot easily unleash the power with the dense trafic conditions you meet. This being said, the reserve of power is limitless and insertion into trafic is effortless. So even if you cannot use the power so often, it makes ever move very easy. Acceleration is if course effortless and deeply impressive. Numbers speak for themselves, no need to say more.
High speed stability is spot on even though the line assistant which alters the steering feedback to keep you centered can be disturbing.
Most impressive is the comfort, both damping and accoustic, a real touring car.
Interior is nice, well finished, very modern. I had doubts on the central "glass" console for AC, seats... but the condition was still very good on our 20k km test car and usage is easy and convenient. I regret the lack of head up display that I appreciated a lot in the M3. Did not spend enough time to understand seat adjustement (3h of rental is short), so difficult to really judge their comfort, which did not impress me.
Some last words on Porsche Drive experience that I recommend as much as BMW On Demand. It is indeed expensive but lets you enjoy quite freely some dreams cars. You can even take your own Child seat inside and make him/her happy (which I did). I will return when the next generation of 911 is available.
