718 Boxster/Cayman Porsche plans overflow production of the 718 model series in Osnabrück

The Porsche Boxster and Cayman are mid-engine two-seater sports cars manufactured and marketed by German automobile manufacturer Porsche across four generations—as a two-door, two-seater roadster (Boxster) and a three-door, two-seater fastback coupé (Cayman). Since the introduction of the fourth generation in 2016, the two models have been marketed as the Porsche 718 Boxster and Porsche 718 Cayman.
Porsche plans overflow production of the 718 model series in Osnabrück
Porsche is relocating parts of its production from the Porsche main plant in Zuffenhausen to the Volkswagen site in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony.

From the middle of next year, overflow production of the 718 model series will start there in order to meet the high demand from all Porsche customers. The relocation will not affect the number of employees in Zuffenhausen.

"The multi-brand plant in Osnabrück has already been a proven partner in our Porsche production network in the past," says Albrecht Reimold, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG. "Our colleagues were responsible for the overflow production of the Cayenne and the 718 Cayman. We are glad to be able to draw on these many years of experience and realise as many of our customers' sports car dreams as possible."

The main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen is working at full capacity with production of 911 and 718 models. Porsche is pursuing an ambitious e-mobility strategy: by the middle of the decade, the 718 series will be fully electrified. In 2030, the share of all new vehicles with a fully electric drive should be more than 80 per cent. Even then, the 718 and 911 model series will continue to be produced on the two-door line in Zuffenhausen.

Hope this means more GT4/RS allocations!
Probably. Coincidentally I looked at GT4 prices last week and discovered that they are not over inflated. You can find a low mileage 2022 718 GT4 for a small premium over list.

Supply appears to be plenty in the UK and one youtuber said that some dealers are not even listing new or cancelled cars but are sneakily offering them to customers that are not on the waiting list. It’s a cheeky way of creating artificial scarcity.

The 981 is even more attainable than what I assumed. Used examples are now in the territory of a new well specced RS3 or a used G82 M4.

Porsche increasing production is only a good thing. If plebs cant buy GT3 or GT3RS, at least crumb them some more 718 GTS or GT4. Cars that are more exciting are increasingly out of reach. Even used F430 have comp sky rocketed in price over the past 18 months.

Good points/info. Porsche is probably the best auto company in the world, but it's still a lumbering behemoth. The head guys in Stuttgart may as well be using jungle drums to receive the news of what's happening on the ground, in UK.

In short, they've got their heads up their arses.

The sales dept. will be begging production for more cars, while dealers in UK are snowed under with inventory.

Don't forget, even the high-ups in these blue chip organisations watch the same TV and 'news', read the same rags, as the general hoi polloi, and so believe up is down, black is white, chip shortage not demand collapse.

They're idiots, basically. The want those bonuses to come. UK went off a cliff in the summer. Even mighty Porsche is being conflagrated - its 'core' customers - flippers - burnt to a singe. Save maybe the Taycan, and some GT cars, Porsche is just another was-living-in-La la land mess - massive over-supply, and now the problem of trying to keep up sky-high residuals - all those 'Porsche customers' - greedy fly by night cowboys - melting away.

UK is the vanguard of all this - global flipper central. US will not be far behind; and then Germany/western Europe.

Everything has gone off a cliff in UK. All those SMEs you hear interviewed night and day on the radio/TV about the cost of energy driving them out of business, with the new price contract not in for a month or so still yet, are actually just telling you that their "business" has suddenly gone poof, as the On/Off, Go/No-go 'economy' of the UK goes, overnight, from literal flipping boom, to totally crashed, 'where'd all the demand go', tumbleweed central.

And that's Porsche. The clowns in Stuttgart are as on the ball as Olaf the Weak, Ursula von der Lying, and the bureaucrats in Brandenburg that signed off Musk's camel back-breaking last straw, the Tesla Berlin white elephant - all weapons grade thicko morons.

Echo Chambers are dangerous and exist everywhere, even amongst Porsche owners. I reckon the GT4 also attracts young and first time Porsche owners who, after 4-12 months have scratched the itch and are happy to move the car on.

Currently there are more than 60 718 GT4 listed for sale. I am sure that there are plenty others that are discretely listed within Porsche clubs and at car meets.

However I am glad that prices are falling while Porsche will increase production. It's better that cars get into the hands of drivers than being used as career trophies or networking tools that will only do 3,000 Miles in two years.
