GLE [Renders] 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE (M class gen 4)

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, formerly Mercedes-Benz M-Class (designated with the "ML" nomenclature), is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz since 1997. In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLC and the larger GLS, the latter with which it shares platforms.

The sports package of the new one is almost a radical departure from the current model.
The headlight shape and grill sit more upright and forward-looking (instead of slanted back.) Combine this with a slightly flatter hood-line that is far less minivan like ((y) good job designers!) with a bit more angles and muscles in the shoulders/ wheels arch and hip area definitely adds aggression. It's definitely gone to the gym.

The new GLE has great hood shutlines, I dont understand why other Mercedes models are not like this?

SUV models have much more space under the hood because they are so big and have such high hoods. It's much easier to give these cars nice hood shutlines and still have proper pedestrian safety.

@ BMW for example, during the Fxx line of cars (last gen) there were poor shutlines everywhere, yet the X3 and X5 were exempt from those ungainly shutlines. Actually, the X3 nor the X5 ever came with ugly shutlines because of this.

I wonder if the new GLE will come, like the X5, standard with 2x10.3" screens

X5 comes with 2x12.3" screens (and the GLE too)

New EQC, GLE, and the new A35 variants all at Paris and then more at the L.A. auto show in November?

The problem for me with the X5 is that it looks too much (in the front) like the X1/X3.. a mix of both, actually. Just saw a video on insta of a bunch of them parked alongside each other and I thought for a second “ this one looks like the X1..this one next to it is the X3..oh, wait, they’re all X5s”..pretty retarded i know, and im sure the X5 has more presence on the metal, but the GLEs front is just brutal.

Nothing retarded about that, I know you speak the truth.
I instantly see the difference, but that's because I look at them every day. But the problem you have with the BMW models, I have with MB models. I sometimes just can't tell them apart, and it bothers me greatly because I am a self proclaimed expert :D

I am not mentioning BMW intentionally every time here, but it looks like BMW and MB are the only noteworthy brands to even attend Paris and have an actual showing (and Audi with the E Tron).
I looked up the exhibitors list, and sad is not even the right word. Half the brands I have never even heard of, and almost no real car companies to be found.

It looks like MB will have a decent showing, and BMW might just have the best showing I have seen in the last two decades (Z4, X7 (?), X5, G20 3er), which is just really weird. I want to go for just BMW and MB, but for the rest the show is C-tier at best.

I am also not so sure about the list of cars in the link of your post. Porsche isn't attending, for instance...

As far as a sports package this one has the best look of any MB SUV.
Kudos. It looks like they really did their homework. The new bumper with the louvers in the openings really looks great. The old one had too much empty space and no depth. The way the inverted grill harmonizes with the headlamp shape is perfect. The lamps are the right size, simple, and furrowed, which gives it some attitude. It's good to see the eyes of the car not looking like an afterthought. The internals look to be good as well.

The double lip spoiler treatment in the center of the lower bumper cover adds a ton of 3-D depth, which really creates a ton of visual interest.

Also, adding the wheel well trim surrounds is a great way to distinguish each model. You can put a more flared piece on the sport models which gives it a wider, more aggressive look. The squared arches also boast a more masculine flare. This, paired with those wheels is divine!
Honestly, from the outside, I can't find a thing to complain about. It's got the right amount of chrome and the everything seems to fit cohesively. It's one of the few Mercedes where i feel like the artists exaggerated sketches actually made it to production.
