Macan [Renders] 2021 Porsche Macan E

The Porsche Macan is a compact luxury crossover SUV (D-segment) produced by Porsche since 2014. It is the smaller SUV from Porsche below the Cayenne. The first-generation Macan went on production from February 2014 with petrol and diesel engine options. In 2024, Porsche released the second-generation Macan which is a battery electric vehicle built on the dedicated Premium Platform Electric (PPE) EV platform.
I expect it to be an evolution of the current Macan but with some straighter lines and shaper creases here and there.

Looks promising with Taycan-inspired touches but the cargo capacity, or the lack thereof, gives me doubt about its usability.

;)
The Macan doesn't have a big boot. However it doesn't hinder sales. Because of its high price in relation to its inteior space for an SUV, many customers are baby boomers without young children. The Macan is more of jacked up Porsche hatchback then a roomy family SUV like the Cayenne or RR Sport.

I expect a 350-400L boot for the Macan-E.

Me too and if it gets 500km+ winter range I'll sell all cars and get a Macan.

I'm thinking X3 gets replaced with the Macan E, and Taycan with a 911 GTS or AMG GT? Not yet ready for 2 EV's, and I feel with sports cars ICE still adds another dimension missing from EV's.

I'd go for the new AMG GT if it has less tire noise than the old one. I added sound deadening material to mine as it was too noisy on rough surfaces.

Me too and if it gets 500km+ winter range I'll sell all cars and get a Macan.

Also Porsche must really improve the PCM on the Macan electric, current version is too basic.

2024 Porsche Macan EV Gets Its First Taste Of The Nürburgring

Porsche has just started testing the all-electric Macan on the Nürburgring, as suggested by our latest spy photos.
Our photographers report that Porsche had no fewer than four test vehicles on the famed racetrack on this day. Previously seen testing in snowy climes or high on mountains, the performance electric crossover can finally stretch its legs.

As seen here testing with and without extended plastic wheel arch inserts, the upcoming Macan EV is undergoing the same development process as the bigger Taycan, which recently took back the EV record of the Green Hell.

In July, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume conceded that the electric Macan would be arriving on the market for the 2024 model year, rather than for 2023, as had previously been aimed for.

Just a few weeks earlier, reports came out suggesting that it was actually the software for the all-electric model that was holding it up. That was being handled by Cariad, the VW Group’s troubled software engineering subsidiary, which had been tasked with developing the technology for all of its brands.
In addition to the Macan, several Audi and Bentley electric vehicles will also reportedly be delayed as a result of issues at Cariad. Despite this, according to unnamed sources, Porsche has been doing its job rather well. “The hardware is great,” they said, “but the software is still missing.”
Based on the new PPE electric vehicle platform, the Macan is expected to have significantly improved range over the Taycan, with reports suggesting that it will be able to go more than 300 miles (483 km) on a charge.

Although power figures remain a mystery, the Audi A6 e-tron concept, which is also based on the PPE platform, was quoted at 470 hp (350 kW/476 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. The Macan EV, though, could get up to 700 hp (522 kW/710 PS) in its highest-performance trim level. No wonder the company is testing it thoroughly at the Nürburgring.

Macan EV will be again the best selling Porsche, the specs are really promising:
- 100kwh battery only
- up to 603 hp
- more efficient motors
- new two valve dampers
- 5.0deg rear wheel steering

We would've seen it next year but their software department is a big mess. Why its so hard to write a piece of software. I think that CARIAD company doesn't have skilled developers.

CARIAD certainly has issues but calling the herculean effort of creating software architecture to control almost every aspect of the car isn't a just a simple "piece of software." VW is a bit nuts for trying to do this completely in house which is why they've had so many issues. Others like Mercedes are working on the same thing but have partners like NVIDIA, Navus, and Unity.

BMW software works great, MBUX is even better and they will have MB.OS on Unity platform in next generation EV's which will be amazing. By the time PCM works like any software in this day, others will be much ahead.

They can do the same and outsource parts they can't get right now, while working on their own OS in parallel... OTA updates still don't work after two years since Taycan was launched.
