Rivian Rivian - started production

Rivian Automotive, Inc., is an American electric vehicle manufacturer and automotive technology and outdoor recreation company founded in 2009. Rivian produces an electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), a pickup truck on a "skateboard" platform that can support future vehicles or be adopted by other companies, and an electric delivery van, the Rivian EDV. Rivian started deliveries of its R1T pickup truck in late 2021.
You guys need to research Rivians production techniques with their chassis and integrated suspension, batteries, motors and you’ll realize why Ford is one of their largest investors. Wouldn’t make much sense for Ford to pump so much money into them and then try and compete.

...and as FoMoCo is also collaborating with VAG (MEB platformed "ID 3-sized" BEV as well as a mutual small pickup + panel delivery projects), we may even see Wolfsburg getting into the Rivian "investment mix". The Traton commercial vehicle unit could be interested in a cooperation.

Isn't the F150s ability to straddle both uses cases, the reason why it's one of the most sold vehicles in the US?
So far there are only 4 trim levels for the F-150 Lighting:

PRO(Work), XLT(Mid-Level, it means Extra Luxury Truck), Lariat and Platinum(More luxurious intended trim levels). There is so far no more offroad oriented spec model(Tremor) or performance variant(Raptor), that is I was wanted to say. Yes, it has some basic offroad ability, but I was thinking a bit further.

From the commentary, better off road ability than most non modified ICE vehicles. And no slouch on the road either.

The by far largest threat to the German automotive industry would be a "Rot/Grün/Rot" coalition government. A death knell regarding further investment in German-based facilities and, quite possibly, a trigger for a large-scale corporate exodus to other, less "automotive hostile" locations. Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria beckon. Perhaps the U.K. as well.

Cant speak much about governments but I think almost all the German CEOs (with the exception of Diess) in the last 20 years have all been absolute failures in terms of recognizing the future and preparing their companies for the shift to EVs. All they cared about was their own pay check and bonuses and poor leadership will ultimately be the downfall of the German car industry.

If a carmaker’s success is dependent on which political party is in power, then it’s not building what consumers want. Same applies to Rimac, Rivian, Tesla et al.

While some wait for the govt to build it...

It is small compared to Tesla's, but everything has to smart somewhere, so kudos to them.

Very impressive off-road ability and composure. Capability to crawl very slowly, even with a not-so-great breakover angle, is commendable.

Gotta love Zack for being able to change a tire. Not too many drivers know how to these days anymore.

Their management team is incredible. This will be a $250b company by end of 2023 is my guess.

Hah!

Hahahaha. 250 billion! What a number to come up with. You have any idea how much money that is? For a company that has made a grand total of 5 cars?
250 billion. LMFAO. As much as all German brands combined and then some.

(In before @Cashmere comes ups with some insane statement on how this is exactly what's going to happen)

I can't stand the front. The light-bar with those perpendicular ellipses looks so naff and un-rugged.
On the contrary, I think it looks very good, what you mention precisely, in my opinion it is a great design success and the only thing I remember since I saw it for the first time, the rest is a vulgar and wild pick up, but that front It manages to be very groundbreaking and striking without resorting to giant grills or vulgar accessories copied from others but in a very original, ultra modern and subtle way

They’re going to IPO at $80b and from there is anyone’s best guess. So yes I do get how much money that is. They are going to be main competitor for Tesla in a few short years time. I’ve spoke to many industry expert and for two years this is the company I’ve been consistently told is the one to look out for. Their valuation multiple will be Tesla-ish. I believe Tesla’s market cap is $900b currently. You can think that’s over valued but it’s reality.
