Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail commission

Yes , but still , nothing near to a mass produced product , where stamping machines are involved for chassis.

And honestly , who will open this 1 of 4 car to see if is actually a refurbished or brand new skeleton ?

They are bragging about a glass roof as "innovative"...So doubts are here

Check the interior. The door panels are 95% Wraith door panels. If you look closely , you can see that they did not even bother to make another windows switch panel. They just put a plastic cover over the rear windows buttons ( as La Rose Noire does not have rear windows ) .

So they did bother to make a new chassis , but not bother to make distinctive door panels ? Ok....

Of course, just as you think, they are lying, as RR has always done for over 100 years, not only to the public, but to four of the richest people on the planet, it is a great strategy, also Vacheron Constantin must have lied and their watch is not unique as they say, it uses the chassis of old watches, they only say that it is new because they like to lie, both brands have shown that they do not care about reputation.

I don't know of any other way to answer that statement.

Yea , we all know your "sensibility" for "BMW and friends".

I showed you a picture , that I would say it's a proof, that they are using past parts for this car. Check the dash , not only the door panels.

And you responded with conspiracy.

Branding and press is one way to boost your sales.

And RR has been in trouble a few times over those 100years...Don't forget

Ahem , sorry....25 years*

This is the best looking Rolls Royce in 60 years but the rear end looks odd and doesn't look like a RR, it reminds me of other cars such as Cadillac and Peugeot. It doesnt look that good to be a 25mill Euro car. The interior looks too mass market RR to me, except for the watch,

This really had to be posted here???

smh

Actually Hyundai would also like to have a talk and Citroën wants its roof back 🤣

Jokes aside, I think the Droptail and especially its front fascia are possibly the best ever rendition of the Rolls-Royce essence if it had to be encapsulated in a single modern design. Stately, unfazed, authoritative, massive presence; and yet extremely refined, serene, with no perceivable bulk in its generous volumes. In that regard, it arguably looks lighter, more modern and more sophisticated even than the 2016 103EX Vision Next 100 Concept which was an actual concept-car supposed to look 100 years ahead of its time

Bingo. THERE IS NO SUCH THING IN PROTOTYPING! Tooling is expensive for mass production.

Yeah, it's funny... I have rack, after rack, after rack of automotive OEM tooling in my factory accumulated over the last 20 years of manufacturing stuff for the car industry, and it's never occurred to me it's expensive </sarcasm>

I am working right now on a product development ( watch winders ) , and prototypes were a piece of cake. Getting the tooling/custom PCBs/moldes/etc done are a pain . Especially financial...

Good luck with that, but it doesn't really address the point being made.

There is almost zero development cost in this car. This is a coachbuilding, which uses an existing platform and drivetrain. Making a hand built car with such a platform costs about 2 million Euro.

It doesn't matter whether you want to consider it development or not, the car does not go from idea to finished item in a single step, I can quote you Bentley's generic project emergence timeline headings covering everything from idea to prototype, and I'll admit - none of them contain the word 'development' (even on an all new car bizarrely) - but there's still 30 months worth of them, and none of them, are "nah mate, it's easy, just coachbuild it innit".

Seriously, I'm not even here trying to justify the price, but this isn't West Coast Customs butchering Beiber's Wraith, or Paul Jnr making up a set of forks as he goes... this is quite literally the Rolls-Royce of car makers spending years on a project... and you cannot compare the unit price of something developed to sell 80 off against something to sell 4.

I bet the purchase of these few-offs comes with mad value adds like:
-First dibs on the latest rollers.
-Preview of future models.
-Access to celebs, politicians and philanthropists at exclusive events. Think Bugatti's drag race event at Kennedy Space centre.

It was a top speed event. Not a drag race, although that would have been so cool!🙂

Well the price of the Bugatti Chiron Supersports replacement has just gone up. The Bugatti Mistral was around £4-5 million "base" and Pagani Codalunga was what around £7 million? Albeit that was very limited production, my point is the "serial" production hypercars the "base" one's if that makes sense just went up, I'd think.

This is a bespoke platform with a mix of steel, aluminum and CFRP.
And there has been 4 years worth of development, including much computer simulations and extensive aero R&D. All bespoke.

Not saying the price is justified but you are factually wrong. Check that vid with Mr JWW and the Drop Tail Amethyst.
It's the other way around of what you claim.
