RUF Ruf RT12 and CTR @ Nurburgring (Scanned EVO Article)

Ruf Automobile GmbH (stylized as RUF) is a German car manufacturer. Formerly using Porsche bodies in white to build cars, today they build vehicles on their own bodies and chassis. They also manufacture performance parts for various Porsche models, including the 911, Boxster, and Cayman. The company rose to fame when in 1987, its Porsche-derived CTR reached 211 mph, surpassing the Ferrari F40's claimed top speed of 201 mph. Official website: RUF Automobile

That was quick! :)

Sure Im a student in England. My father is the other half in the family who is car mad(he bought all the cars) and we also live in munich. (which is very close to RUF)

We both love cars and driving them as quick as possible. Heres a video of me maxing out the r turbo on the autobahn:

I love the 535d.

I had the opportunity to drive our M5 from ruf to munich, and then the 535d back to ruf. This was a real chance to see the main differences between the two.

On the 535d, the tyres are the Run flats and they are utter crap imho. They are noisy and have no grip. On the autobahn the car feels good, but not planted like the m5. The acceleration is superb though with torque absolutely everywhere... as an everyday car it is peerless....i would take it over the m5 if i was commuting everyday, as it is 85% of the speed but much more economical.

Unfortunately we just bought the R32 and i havent had a chance to drive it much. But it sounds fantastic, the DSG gearbox makes the M5's look like something from the stone age, and the general fit and finish is superb. And it handles very well:usa7uh:

Agreed and that's why i've changed them after one month.:usa7uh:

Depends how you drive it, of course. But in any case, changing them is better.

Thanks, Adam.

And now...PICS OF ALL CARS FROM YOUR SIG, PLEASE! :D:usa7uh:

Adam, welcome to GCF! It's great forum! :)

Please post pics of CTR and M5 if you have them in computer!

Just_Me,

Sorry i missed your post earlier...

Its very hard to say...basically i was lucky enough to take the ctr to the ring for one weekend, and then the next weekend i took the r turbo. To make a long story short, i had the most fun in the r turbo. The ctr is a car which is well beyond my talents as a driver, its unforgiving and so fast. But dont get me wrong, it is a tactile delight to drive and the noises and speed are just intoxicating, however i never really "let myself go" as i fear that i will stuff it into a barrier..the rturbo on the other hand is much more forgiving, and you can really fly with it round the ring.

However for a sunday afternoon blast round country roads i would take the ctr, for a late night Vmax, i would take the r turbo :)

Here are some pics:
