No Genesis (the latter all the more odd given Hyundai / KIA's huge presence
Highlights were:What was the highlight of the show for you @martinbo?
But it's still super attractive and with those new details it looks updatedKarma GS-6. Not that much to write home about.
It looks like a Chinese McLarenthe Austrian Deus Vayanne.
Eminently forgettable.
Highlights were:
- Rolls Royce Ghost II - despite not being in the most fetching colour for a Roller, this being first acquaintances, it didn’t disappoint. I’m a big fan.
- The new Huracan Tecnica was a nice surprise - pity I didn’t have an STO to compare it to.
- Great to finally see the mid-engined Corvette C8 in the flesh - it really does look quite exotic for something that isn’t.
I think the upper-crust performance brands are avoiding car shows and focusing on events with more focused time with their upper-crust clientele. The car show ain't what it used to be.I’m really miffed that Ferrari weren’t there with a 296 GTB or Porsche with GT4 RS.
Thanks a bunch @martinbo - I used to post pics and reviews of the NYIAS annually going back 10 years till COVID hit, but now it’s no longer worth attending - sad to say. BMW, Porsche, MB used to go all out with the fanfare, food, and booth/PR ladies… Times have really changed quickly. The 2022 NYIAS is all about plugging EVs, pardon the pun. I presume it was the theme that the organisers set upon given the 3 electric indoor test tracks and message of EV being the future. Ford had a mini drag strip where they were “launching” Mach E, Hyundai had their own dedicated to Ioniq and on the lower level there was a multi-brand test circuit. The queues - on a Monday morning - were deterringly long and I was surprised at how many people wanted to pay extra for 40 seconds of riding shotgun.
No Tesla (okay, they’ve a nice showroom a couple of blocks away), no Lucid (really?) and worst of all for me - no Rivian (really, really???). Obviously there’s a plethora of other significant EV brands not mentioned who weren’t present. No Chinese brands.
I’m really miffed that Ferrari weren’t there with a 296 GTB or Porsche with GT4 RS. Perhaps the EV-centric theme deterred.
You’re welcome @sako97 - so nice to hear from you. I hope you and yours are all good!
Hopefully Ferrari on Park Ave has a 296 for me to ogle. New York has been great fun once again but sweet baby cartman it’s crazy expensive.

Karma GS-6. Not that much to write home about.
How did it feel to sit in the drivers seat of this car? Is the huge tray like area behind the steering wheel for storage?

It's ergonomically compromised. The area you refer to is part of the "HUD-effect" cowling for the driver's instrument panel. The net result is that you have to position the steering wheel in your lap to be able to see the display. How did it feel to sit in the drivers seat of this car?
