Sport Auto Supertest - Porsche 981 Cayman S PDK

Fully-equipped testcar: PDK, ceramic brakes, PASM, Torque Vectoring with limited slip diff., bucket seats.

Dyno: measuring is not possible, the car shuts down always (emergency-program).

Acceleration/flexibility: no significant difference compared to the Boxster S. This testcar was 1,1 seconds slower to 200 km/h than the one they've tested last winter.

Brakes: PCCBs are good, but no better than the stock ones.

Gearbox: PDK shifts up and down automatically even in M-mode at kickdown. The ratios are too long for the short course of the Hockenheimring. HvS disliked the PDK.

Aerodynamic: Cw 0,30 - additional uplift (front+rear) at 200 km/h: 36 kg.

Hockenheimring Short: Because of the rubber abrasion of DTM-race two days before the Cayman lost a few tenths around the course - with its time of 1:14.1 min it's no faster than the Boxster S, also 1,3 sec slower than the first testcar with stock brakes. At the limit its behaviour shifts between minimal understeer and tricky oversteer.

Nordschleife: 8.05 min - 5 seconds quicker than the previous Cayman R PDK, 12 seconds quicker than the old Cayman S PDK, but one second slower than the actual Boxster S PDK.

The Cayman was slower? How is that possible, human variance?

EDIT: Just saw it was due to rubber abrasion. Still, I would have thought the coupe to have a bit more "edge" compared to the roadster.
