All-New "SUBARU XV" to Make World Premiere at 64th Frankfurt Motor Show

Tokyo, August 10, 2011 - Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today has announced that it will exhibit the all-new "SUBARU XV" (European specifications) as a world premiere at the 64th Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011. The new model will be unveiled at the Subaru press conference, scheduled at 9.30am on September 13th.

The SUBARU XV defines a new generation of Subaru crossover vehicles. It is the production version of the design concept "SUBARU XV CONCEPT" displayed last April at Shanghai motor show. The concept was favourably received globally thanks to its distinctive and trendy design which blend a crossover-like commanding silhouette and an urban friendly image into one harmonious and elegant package.

Under the brand statement "Confidence in Motion", Subaru brand always inspires confidence with customers through its commitment to "engineering excellence". With the core ideal of "engineering excellence", Subaru continues to provide customers with "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind" in all Subaru products.

I find it laughable that FHI is choosing to "tease" the launch of the official XV. We already got the "tease" with the XV Concept in Shanghai guys. Just do a reveal already.

It will be nice for Subaru to show a concept version of their take on the Toyota FT-86, Toyota has released 3 design concepts now, Subaru has precisely zero, (their transparent model showing the car's drive train doesn't count) so what are they waiting for?

Subaru XV Teased Ahead Of 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show Debut

At the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show back in April, Subaru unveiled the sporty XV Concept based on its latest-generation 2012 Subaru Impreza Hatchback.

With a toughened exterior look courtesy of flared wheel arches, roof racks, and lower body protection, the Subaru XV Concept hinted at a possible replacement for the outgoing Impreza Outback Sport.

Now the Japanese automaker has released a new teaser of a production version, which will be making its official world debut next month at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.

Whether this pans out to be the model that will be sold in the U.S. as the next Impreza Outback Sport remains to be seen, though it could just be the European variant of the car.

You may recall that Subaru already sells an “XV” variant of the outgoing Impreza in select markets, and it may do the same with this new model.

Either way, more details should be revealed following the new XV’s debut at next month’s Frankfurt show.

Note, Subaru will also be showcasing a new technology concept for its upcoming BRZ rear-wheel drive sports car, which it will call the Subaru BRZ Prologue - Boxer Sports Car Architecture II.
