Teaser from The Grand Tour

They made a joke of it, when they had a mock fight with the American audience over whose air force was the best. They also took the piss out of the new ebola drome driver a bit. But some cultures don't get offended as easily.

I knew I shouldn't have made a joke about this. Let's not derail the thread, but it's very easy to say "some cultures get offended easily" when you're in a position of power.

Not really. My folks are Irish and I grew up during the 1980s listening to Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman jokes non-stop for a decade and never gave a damn. You try doing that with Sunniman, Shiaman and Blackman and see what happens.

But enough sidetrack.

The American.. a.k.a. Mike Skinner, on the M2... "This thing wouldn't pull a greasy string out of a dogs ass.." make your mind up whether the jokes about his tastes are made at his expense or not.

Mike has contested several hundred NASCAR sanctioned races, and had most success racing in Trucks, with one championship under his belt.

The RAF comments where obviously a set-up gag requiring several cuts, rather than an off the cuff jibe.

Skinner's just playing a role when his says things like that. Entertaining is part acting too.

Indeed, but it appears as though the show is going to use the Anglo-American 'differences' as a running joke. Some might see that as the British making jokes at the expense of the Americans.

Nothing against Mike Skinner, he really looked like he was monstering the M2 around the track!, but I kinda liked the fact that the Stig never said anything. Inflammatory opinions for laughs is what Clarkson does already, we don't need someone else doing as well.... just my opinion of course.

I'm a bit disappointed with the Ebola Drome. It doesn't really seem like a good venue for testing faster cars.

Saw it yesterday. Kind of disappointed in how they conducted the holy trinity test. In my opinion, looks like they were trying to not piss off any of the three big companies. It was evident in the drag race where the P1 should have killed the other two cars consistently (and I am a 918 fan) if it was done correctly, but they were showing a different result every single time. Then there was the case of P1 bein

It was fun and entertaining with great cinematography, but I think it'd be difficult not to be with an M2 and the Holy Trinity squealing about with all that tire smoke.

Then at least one of 2nd set of attempts was a repeat of the ending from the first. Then you have the hot laps, which lasted 60s end-to-end and had 40s of 3 people talking and 20s of random cornering clips from different laps.

I must have skipped over that scene, thanks for taking the screen cap.

As for the lap time debates, you guys are already talking about that on the hyper car thread, and I prefer it if you guys keep it all on that thread.

Porsche & McLaren had their boys too tweaking and adjusting

As a general point, I think in terms of hot lap quality of coverage, Chris Harris smashed their production to pieces. And strangely in Harris's video, either him, Tiff or Marino is going faster here. Wonder where they lost that 6s.
