TV Streaming The Grand Tour

Episode 2

Vulcan review... hmm.. pretty uninspiring, and to be honest, nothing we've not seen before.

Again the tedious scripting and poor delivery bugs me... Hammond - "I didn't know where Jordan was"... yeah, because you didn't drive across it in the Top Gear Middle East special... :banghead:

The anti-terrorist bit... tedious as f***.. and quite similar to the bit they did in the SLK on Old New Top Gear...

... but yeah, it was rubbish.

The American racing driver has got to go...

The military challenge harkens back to some of the un-memorable challenges they did on their last few seasons of Top Gear. Nevertheless, the show seems to be living up to expectations.

I think I am over Clarkson, May and Hammond, even though they made some attempts to be different and inject some freshness into the proven formula, it wasn't enough for me. The heavily scripted dialog has become all too predictable.

Having said that the trio still has millions of fans worldwide so the formula is still working out for them.

I haven't watched the 2nd ep yet and I don't think I will. All the talk about this American racing driver is raising my interest, should I look into it?

It's Top Gear Theatre... it really depends if you want to buy into the character or not.

Interesting video on Mike here... if a little old..

They need to tone it down on the scripting, its just too much. Couldn't finish this episode.

It was entertaining, but more as a comedy show and not as an automotive one.

The script certainly feels much more pretentious than old Top Gear. Still a good laugh, though.

Looks like I'm not missing anything with the Grand Tour then.

In my opinion it's picked up exactly where Clarkson Top Gear left off. That's either a good thing, or a bad thing depending on how you felt about how that was going. I was a supporter of the Chris Evans Top Gear series because I thought it might be able to fix some of what had gone wrong with Clarkson Top Gear, to a point it did, but there was no doubt it lacked chemistry - but that could come with time.

What I was hoping the Grand Tour would do (based on its name and globe trotting budget & status) would be to focus on the road-trips and epic journeys the guys made - because that, for me, was where the standout TV was, and the best way of showing what chemistry the guys did have.

The whole lot is now weaker than the sum of its parts.

The 2nd episode is bad really bad. The American stig just ruins it even further, he tries so hard to be funny and he doesn't look like his capable of driving this cars fast because of his weight.

Yeah that American fat ass driver sucks, but for the rest the show is pretty decent. Not as good as I hoped it would be, but I guess I have to still grow into it. It's pretty entertaining so far, and the production values are off the charts, which is nice.

The script certainly feels much more pretentious than old Top Gear.

It somehow feels a little less genuine so far, something I actually never had with the old Top Gear. Trying perhaps a little too much.
That stuff when they were navy seals was just stupid, imo.

I must say that the GT has been getting progressively better with each episode. There are some elements that should be eliminated, but for now it's negligible

The Ford GT40 vs. Ferrari segment was top notch

:ROFLMAO:

Having watched the whole season I must say it was below average and every episode really ended abruptly. I kept asking myself if that was it.

Having seen a couple of the teaser videos from Topgear I think it will be better than TGT.

Patrol from last episode...

It's basically a GT-R. Engine, drivetrain etc.
1900hp. :)

Good grief, it's the 27th February. Hardly relevant to talk about the second series now. The fact that the new series of Top Gear begins in six days is purely coincidental.
