Videos TopGear Drag Race: E63 S 4Matic+ vs Audi RS7 vs Nissan GT-R

Predictable result is predictable.

Not very predictable when the Merc is barely faster than the old RS7....I would have expected a bigger gap, if the race was a little shorter the RS7 would have won (I am leaving the GTR out of this, why they even put it there I have no idea).

The Merc has more power but is heavier than RS7...Also I noticed in other Top Gear's videos RS6 Perfomance does 0-60 mph in 3.5s (RS6 vs Tesla Model S) and in other video 0-60 mph is 3.3s (RS6 vs S8 vs R8). So this drag races pretty much depend on human factor...

How is that, the results show the RS7 is nearly 2 10th slower to 60mph. It will be interesting to see how the 592bhp F90 M5 fairs in the races.

Did you actually see the drag race and how the RS7 beat the E63 S from the start? I didn't expect that to happen.

And how the F90 performs will hardly be interesting as it will be the best and fastest of them all :D :p

So what, the RS7 flitch first but was quickly overtaken.

We will see about your beloved M5. It shares ZF box with so many cars, Porsche Panamera all the down to the Dodge Charger Hellcat. The 707hp Charger Hellcat ran a 1/4 in 11.5 seconds by MotorTrend if I am not mistaken. Hardly impressive compared to the E63s time.

Shenanigans! The race and the recorded times don't really gel. They just tried to make it look dramatic, hate when journos do that shit...unless it's Top Gear... :)

I honestly know very little about quarter mile times, it's not something we use in Europe. But I believe a 1/4 mile roughly equals the 0-200 km/h time of the E63S, which is around 11.3, 11.2 seconds (crazy fast).

But you really shouldn't compare a Dodge to a BMW because they share the same basic engine. Actually, one should never compare a Dodge to a BMW at all....

You have just triggered champagne socialists who will call you an elitist pig for saying that.

Predictable result. an underrated 605 hp RS7 performance will not be much slower than an underrated 612 hp E63s as discussed in other threads. The one car I'd like to see (also in longer distance races) is the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid...

I used the Hellcat because it is sharing in the same transmission parts bin as the M5. Interesting the RS7 also shares in the same parts bin.

I think the wet-clutch 9 speed in the Merc might have an advantage over the 8-Speed ZF auto.

Seems like GT-R forgot to launch or something. It's 0-60 time is shorter but it looked slower than other 2 in video.

If it was a 1 mile race I think the Mercedes would have won but the GTR and RS7 would be close behind :D

I have a feeling that the acceleration times were from separate runs. The video results would have looked much different if it reflected the acceleration data.

Based on results we've seen to 300 kph, I think the Merc would continue pulling away. I guess it depends on just how 'healthy' the engine under the hood of the E63 S is :D
