Obviously it wasn't the exterior updates that caused the delay. Even if Ola resigned today, the next-gen S-class has already been signed off. His influence will remain for quite some time regardless.

Either way , this is one of the longest generation of S class. With the FL , it will be , probably , a 10 year model. Insane

I really hope the 7er will steal even more from the S class clientele.

I see more and more people are buying the 7/i7 over the S-Class, at least in my country. This wasn’t the case with the previous gen 7er. Many of them are ICE versions too, while i7 still being sold fairly well considering how much cheaper they are than the ICE models. The electric models are cheaper here in Turkiye compared to the other markets. While the ICE 7er is on a %220 tax, the i7 is around %50-60. So it makes the i7 M70 almost the half price of an 740d.

The 7-series capturing more sales makes total sense given the S-class hasn't been updated in so long and the EQS is..."unconventional" if we're being totally polite. Everyone is waiting around for an update. They're really losing sales here in the U.S. as people lease these cars and are faced with buying the exact same car or shopping another brand since the update isn't here yet. Shame.

The W224 will be revealed before the decade concludes.

The 7 series is in a constant decline. It's interesting how people keep talking about sales success. I'd bet the i7's first full year of sales is behind the EQS's 23,000-unit performance.
