Passat Volkswagen Passat B8 Facelift video reviews

Steering assist at motorways speeds is a welcomed addition. Other than that the Passat remains an expensive and highly uninspiring car. The A6 Avant is barely more expensive on finance while the Skoda Superblooks better, is better equipped and cheaper!

Have just completed 61k miles in a B8 2016 Alltrack.

not a bad car, but since it went 2 weeks ago I can remember nothing about it.

So it was a tool, not a car? That's the vw principle ;)

Exactly. Very dull and very functional. I did keep a picture of the engine

i'm considering ordering a new Passat R-Line for 2020. I'm going with petrol and trying to decide between the 1.5 TSI (150hp) and the 2.0 TSI (190hp).

I'd appreciate any input from people with experience of both engines.

Apart from the extra power and performance of the 2.0 unit, are there any significant differences between the two? Are they similar in terms of noise, smoothness and general driving characteristics?

Thanks for any info.

The 1.5TSI is an amazingly smooth engine and is very capable. However if you want a fun engine and occasionally like driving fast then the 2.0TSI is a no brainer - especially in a large car like the Passat.

Furthermore WLPT slightly ruined the power delivery of the 1.5TSI and DSG combination.

It reminded me when the Euroncap tested a Chinese car

It is a disaster, you can see how badly constructed it is, parts that should not be disassembled are broken down as if they were stuck with mucus, the front wrinkles like the Chinese cars of the 80', the airbag is rather a deadly trap and is laughable the way it inflates to the opposite side of the head, it looks like a birthday balloon.
It seems to be a Chinese version of the Passat ...
