What does your Profile Name mean?

Lasse, try saying that (unless you are from the nordic countries)

Just pronounce the 'e' as an 'a' and you're golden. For some reason the couple of Lasse's I know call themselves Lars? Not a usual occurance in Scandinavia where people never shorten their names. All my life I've been Rob (except when my mum was mad at me) and here I'm a Robert.

Mine is from a German Cop in a TV-series. I only added an E to the last name. The plot revolves around German homicide detective Mick Brisgau who was shot in the head on duty in the late 1980s. As a result of this headshot, he was in a coma for 20 years. The show starts when he awakes suddenly from said coma. Being a star for the media he is allowed to return to his old job at the homicide department.

As an old-school macho-cop, he doesn't know about modern technology (i.e. cellphones, computers, modern investigation methods) and deals with modern world homicide cases in his 80s style manner. Thus making him a unique officer in the today's city of Essen police headquarters in the center of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region.

While spectators might find resemblances with Life on Mars, it is actually doing the inverse - the rough style of the main character (portrayed by Henning Baum) is complemented by his prudent partner Andreas Kringge (portrayed by Maximilian Grill). The series presents a number of 1980s music and items, the main character is even driving an old Opel Diplomat V8 :-)

My real name is Rob.

@ Mick: I know "Der letzte Bulle" and "Life on Mars". Both are great TV-series and I thought so that you was inspired through the german serie because Mick Bri(e)sgau isn't so a masses name like Max Müller. :)

@ Rainer: You know there are two series "Life on Mars"? One BBC-series and an American one, with, among others, Harvey Keitel. I especially like the British one :-). Absolutely great acting and conversation. Of course in Original language.

The American version is an adaptation of the British one. There were two series of the British 'Life on Mars', and one series of the American 'Life on Mars'.

Have you seen 'Ashes to Ashes' @Mick Briesgau ? That was three series long and set in 1981.

No, I did not @ Betty. I just checked it and guess what? The same actors as Life on Mars! And a new, very nice looking DI. Thanks for pointing that out to me.
I hope Gene Hunt is as great in Ashes to Ashes as he was in Life on Mars.

The american adaptation was broadcasted not long ago in the german TV. It was not bad but for me not so good like the original with John Simm and especially Philip Glenister as DCI.

My real name is Arnoud, and 'klier' means something like annoying person in Dutch. Kind of stupid thinking about it that way, because I have been using this online handle since the 90s, and just see it as my name now.

Cool thread. We've been doing these in the past, but with all the new members it's good to do it again I guess :D

Can I make you wam for the series 'Cosmos'? Freaking fantastic stuff. The old one with Carl Sagan, and the new one maybe even more so.

I know the old one. Quite interesting stuff shown. But it's more of a documentary and not real acting drama, what I was talking about. On the other hand, a black hole could be drama enough.

@Gianclaudio people used to call me that because I can eat a lot of food...and I have really really bad temper in real life. (y)
