^Whilst this argument would definitely be true for the standard S-class vs A8 I would have thought that comfort would have play a minor role in the overall bearing when comparing S63 vs S8.

I was thinking the same thing. The lighter weight and better drive are PLUSES at the S8 vs. S63 level where are less of a concern to the regular variants.

Not to mention here in the US the S8 is a full $30k less than the S63...

In addition the video states the S8 is best for either on the front seats as well as in the rear, and it brings its power better onto the road, and leads in the price/value ratio. Thus placing it second, overall, if I'm understanding it correctly, as there is less emphasis on cost in this category, and more on prestige. The XJR is more exotic, an agile tiger, was the lightest in the test, lacked a few assistants, and is better to enjoy on the front seats. Racers enjoy the RWD. More pics. :)
