So, OK, after a few days' of rumination, here is my take:
1)McLaren 720S:
So aggressive, so cutting edge and so otherworldly. Never have I ever come across such a desirable car from the McLaren product range since the might F1. Sure, I too, struggled with the way the front of the car looks but then, the more I looked at it, the more I started absolutely loving it. Love the cutting-edge, purpose-built exterior; and the well-built, tech-fest of an interior. This would be a MUST-BUY for me
VERDICT: BUY, 100%
2)Lamborghini Huracan Performante:
Even though Audi's takeover of Lamborghini back in 1998 has solved the chronical build-quality & reliability problems of past models, I have not been a big fan of what they've done to the bulls, as it seemed as though the zest and passion, the so-called x-factor seemed to have vanished beneath that cloak of Teutonic common sense. And the standard Huracan, I'm afraid, does not seem to be an exception. This new Performante variant, however, seems to have brought some of that lunacy back. I do not even care if there is any controversy surrounding the Nordschleife lap record they seem to claim, it just looks business, from whichever angle you look at the car. Part of me is a bit of a poseur, and I think this Performante would serve me just fine.
VERDICT: BUY (caving in to the poseur within me)
3) Ferrari 488 GTB:
Since the 458 came out, I have adored that car, but with all due respect, even though it may be a great car, this 488 seems to be missing some of that Ferrari zest and passion. Sure, it is still a looker and one hell of a performer, but once you buy a Ferrari, you buy that whole "heritage", and this one, somehow, seems a tad watered down compared to some of Ferrari's all-time greats.
VERDICT: DON'T BUY
4)Porsche 991.2 GT3
Surely, this car brings nothing in terms of innovation, pantomime and panache. That said, even though it is by far the least powerful of the cars over here, no one can really match that "extra" a Porsche GT3 would provide. As
@martinbo said in another thread, I too, would be gladly willing to donate my left testicle for one of these bad boys, especially the upcoming manual variant
VERDICT: BUY
5) Audi R8 V10 plus
Sure, it is the most practical and user friendly of the bunch, and even though I'd buy this one over the standard Huracan, it just doesn't seem to cut the mustard in the face of very stiff competition provided by the other four
VERDICT: DON'T BUY
