X5 M / X6 M 2020 BMW (F96) X6 M Competition LEAKED

The X5 M is the high-performance variant of the X5. In April 2009, the X6 M version was announced, with a 408 kW (547 hp) version of the BMW S63 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The BMW X5 M and X6 M are the first vehicles from BMW M GmbH to have xDrive all-wheel-drive system and automatic transmissions, and are also crossovers as opposed to passenger cars.
So it sounds like the grill will drop all the way down to the bottom?
I have not seen the M3. One area I am curious regards the centre intake, which the Grille eliminates the need for one.
I expect the brake cooling intakes could be a lot larger therefore introducing a new form for M design?
Also the detailing for the kidney Grille itself. Will they retain the twin bars?

I think it looks really bad. From that angle at least.
Rear light shape in general is pretty ugly, and the graphics inside them even more so with that stupid drop down effect.

Hope it'll be better with more pics, but I doubt it. The rims look like they are 12".

What did you expect from BMW?

Another banned troll back with an alter ego. Probably that Caddy fan again.

The SUV coupe segment is needless (well, with the exception that it prints money), there is no single really convincing design. Those exemplars that look acceptably balanced (the Velar, for instance) actually don’t really show visual cues of „coupes“. And those that do often look bloated and disharmonious.
This new spy shot is particularly difficult to interpret, imo. Some areas are weirdly „beiged“ or whited out, maybe to cover reflections of bystanders. Also, perspective is peculiar, and, obviously, so is the design itself. But at least it does not give the impression of a lazy design. Rather, I see some clever lines that might make this new X6 more easy to digest than the current one. Particularly those two lines above the rear wheelarch (explicit and convex highlighted in red, implicit and concave in green) might make for pretty good hips and less visual mass around the rear. Furthermore, the way the taillight and the bumper below it are resolved is kinda clever. Whereas the current X6 tried to reduce metal surfaces by just adding huge taillights, those new ones seemingly create/enable additional surfaces and another implicit crease in the bumper (green). Just guesses for now, haven’t seen the upcoming X6 in the flesh, yet. But I‘m rather optimistic this time around.

Exhaust tipps are far too much placed at the outside. That isn't typical M anymore. Plz. move them to the center again.

It really doesn't make any sense to keep copy-pasting the M4's front fascia to the M3. Not only has BMW itself pushed the compartmentalization of its range and namely a separate nomenclature for its sedans and coupés, this time around the base 3 and 4 Series will have extremely divergent front fascia styles and it will make no sense whatsoever for the M3 to look so different from the base 3 Series. Just like it wouldn't make sense for the M5 to get the M6's or now the M8's front fascia.

The 3er has grown and become as mature and competent as a mini 5er, it fully deserves its own consistent identity from base bare bones 3er to top of the lineup M3. Doing otherwise only keeps the M3 in a sort of inferior place in the M family.

When launched in its current form (as a Sedan), the M3 has always shared its front fascia as follows:

- the E90-based M3 with the E92/E93 M3 Coupe/Convertible models
- the F80 M3 with the F82/F83 M4 series

So, now, the trend is expected to continue with the G80 generation as well. See that the front area of the M3 prototype is still still heavily cladded, so if it were to have the same fascia as the G20, this attempt to hide it would have been useless.

But first, the new 4 Series must come out before the M3 can showcase its new face.

Now, back to the X6 M.

Not saying that it won't continue the trend since the spyshots suggest otherwise, but that it's becoming totally unjustified from a lineup perspective and a styling perspective, especially this time around with a completely different 4 Series (which is quite normal after all for a different series model). The story is a bit different with the X5/X6 which have always shared a very similar front end.

Hopefully this leak and the Cayenne Coupé launch will advance the new X6's unveiling :)

The rear end looks too busy and those amoeba lights are ugly and make it much less stylish than the previous model or the 1st gen which so far is the best looking X6. It looks like the X6 is getting less attractive with every generation. The Cayenne Coupe has a much nicer rear than this car.

I have to agree. The first generation X6 was perfect imo.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
