The new X2 is, in many visual aspects, a mini-X6. No X1 copy-cat with coupe allure. A totally different car on the exterior. A significant departure from the outgoing F39 generation, a welcome, fresh design approach.

While it may look polarizing at first, it certainly more neatly finished compared to more intriguing recent designs of BMW. The headlights beautifully evolve the X5/X6 theme (blue accents for the optional matrix LED lights - stemming from high end RWD class BMWs, a first among similar compact models of the brand), whereas the tail lamps are a bit unexpected in their overall shape and inner graphics.

Interior is, though, identical to the X1, with some leather upholstery choices exclusive to the U10.

Was there any change then? The German partners said this

"In addition, since the iX1 is not offered in the US, those in charge assume there will be high demand for the BMW iX2: in the all-important US market, it will be the brand's entry-level electric car in years to come and should therefore be in high demand"

Note the date: April 2023. We interviewed the product manager for the iX2 and asked directly: is it coming? As we expected:NO. It's the same issue as the iX1, in my opinion: range and price point.

We are on the Second Generation of X2 and the first generation defied BMW convention by abandoning The Sport Activity Coupe outline for a raised hatch but not abandoning the name.
The first X2 was a perfect bookend to the XM with their more sportier outlines than the Coupe’s of the X4 and X6. Now we have another Coupe.
But it’s not the first attempt at following the coupe outline for an X2.
