^I know that you are allowed to carry a gun in the US..
But how far does the law protect you if you really shoot and kill someone?
I mean what does the other part have to do..so that you walk free even if you shoot them out of this life?
If the riots of Los Angeles 20 years is any guide, London will make a speedy recovery and things will get back to normal in a few weeks.

London is already back to normal. The riots only affected a small minority of people living on high streets where the vandalism and looting took place.
In several states if you are over 18 or 21 and not a felon you can concealed carry a handgun without a permit. If convicted of a felony you can not own a gun. In most other states you need to be over 21 and have a permit to concealed carry. Many states allow you to open carry without permits.
Rules about shooting people differ between states. Some states, if a criminal breaks into your house you can shoot without question, some you need to have the criminal attacking you and you unable to get away, while others (CA) you are pretty well screwed if you do and screwed if you don't. Laws also differ between states while outside of your home. Some you are legal to defend yourself on a public street if threatened, others you must try and run away, some (CA) bend over and take it.
Even if you are, say walking down the street and 5 convicted felons with illegally possessed handguns come up and state they are going to rob you, rape your wife and kill you both, you will still probably be forced to go through a long drawn out trial to clear your self. It is not the wild west where you could kill someone because he drew a gun on you and you just walk away without anything happening. Plus in many states the criminal's family can even sue you for defending yourself.
Better to be judged by 12 then carried by six.
Concealed carry permit (CCW) is similar to drivers license, you must go through training and pass a test, then the sheriffs office does a in depth background check.
Thnx for the info..but then again.. its such a weird ass system..you can carry a gun..but you get screwed if you shoot someone..
But like you said its better to be judged than buried..
In that case you can do the same in European country's where weapons are illegal, get yourself one.. dont use it..if your life is in danger..use it..and face the trial.. at least you will be alive :s
The only additional charge you will get over here compared to most ( not all ) of US states is use and possession of illegal firearms.. but i guess its a big meeh!!! at that point

Also, in most states, you can shoot someone if they enter your house under the assumption of the "castle doctrine." The castle doctrine is alive and well in Florida and in other states. It basically states that if someone enters your premises, it is assumed that they are there to cause harm and your life is in danger, regardless of what their intent is, since the intent is assumed for you already.
CA is a funny state because they have interesting gun laws, which some have argued goes against the 2nd amendment.
Military? LOL, this is not the middle east. The police can handle those kids just fine.
