S500 against Mulsanne and Phantom!?
Even the S65 cannot compete against them.
The S500 is not even a FS/Ghost competitor... the S65 is a FS/Ghost competitor!

RR Vogue and the Jag are both great cars but the same applies to them.
I'd go as far as saying that the Fiesta ST is the best car in the world. Since price is obviously included in this occasion :)

If you are purely talking about class and image then I couldn't agree more both the RR and Bentley are leagues ahead of the others but I suppose they are looking at the overall picture where price, practicality etc come into it. The S-class is a class act regardless of the engine and switching the engine doesn't make it any more of a rival all it does is increase the performance and price. I like their summing up of the Range Rover "the best in the 'real' world" which is correct as it's the most practical and carries the same class status of the others bar the RR and Bentley of course.

P.S.
It's not until you watch how a Bentley or Rolls is built do you realise where the money has gone compared to the likes of the S-class and the others. For them the term best materials and craftsmanship actually means just that.

Great group of cars, S and Mully are my favorites here. Would rather have a Wraith and a RR Sport than the ones here.

Correct result, definitely, and yet another nail in the coffin of the conspiracy theories that Autocar are a JLR mouthpiece.

Do you have the full scan of this test? I would love to read the full article! Happy about the result

Talk about broken records…..
And for that same broken record: adding the Range Rover and a Jaguar to this group "Best Car In The World" says quite a bit to me…. Quite a bit indeed :D

The Range is a fantastic car but it's a SUV and cannot be compared to the finest sedans (I know you see this differently but ok) and the Jag XJ is a joke in this list. Only here because it's "British". Something else "British" is missing then. A Ghost is better than the Jag and RR combined :)

That's the correct result right there...

Martin, my friend, you have got to be kidding here (no answer needed btw) :)

Talk about broken records…..

"Broken records"? What about the "broken record" of every time somebody has come into a thread where a JLR car has done well and whinged "bias" over the last two or so years?

And for the record: adding the Range Rover and a Jaguar to this group "Best Car In The World" says quite a bit to me…. Quite a bit indeed.

Ha ha!!! Exactly! Now it's not good enough that the Jag has come second from bottom thus ruining your Autocar conspiracy theory. You have to resort to the fact that it was even included at all as your "evidence" of bias.

You have absolutely NO credibility Klier.

Whilst you're here, any chance of actually coming up with something to back up your comments in this thread? Any chance at all? Possibly?

Calling Betty a broken record yet in the same sentence you repeat your claim of British bias. LOL

If you had driven a Range Rover you would know why it's universally accepted as an alternative to traditional luxury saloon and I'm also curious to know if you have driven any XJ to be able to make the claim they are a joke?

This ^

Every. Single. Thread. Klier talks about Autocar/JLR bias and has the sheer barefaced cheek to say I'M a broken record.

Anyway, let's drop it now I've said my piece.

Maybe because when he yet again starts whining about it, I feel obliged to answer? But never mind. You and him are British buddies, keep it up :p

No Deckhook, you're the only one here in the privileged position to have driven every car there is.
An alternative it may very well be. But this was about the best car in the world wasn't it? And a sedan drives much better than any SUV, so why would they put a SUV in this test?
Why not add the A8 FL instead of a crappy Jag? Why no Rolls Ghost, BMW 7er or Quattroporte?
Why compare apples with oranges all the time?

I start "whining" about it because I'm sick and tired of reading Autocar are biased in favour of JLR, usually from you. You've done it far more than me.

And what does being "British" have to do with anything? And you are fully aware I live in HOLLAND. Your country. I have done for thirteen years. I have absolutely NO affinity with Britain whatsoever. But because you've identified a common theme (that of being British) your inherent bias has concluded that must be the reason we agree. And Deckhook lives in Northern Ireland. There's a whole can of worms there which I won't even go into as politics shouldn't be discussed on here.

What Betty is complaining about and highlighting is the errors in your biased opinion that UK rags favor UK based products, I think it's quite the opposite because more often than not it's German products which win. Oh and BTW the sole German product in this test ended up to win which shows how twisted a reality you live in and yes Rolls Royce is a British product despite who happens to own it, in much the same way as JLR and Bentley are.

No Deckhook, you're the only one here in the privileged position to have driven every car there is.

I think I've corrected you on several occasion on that assumption but I do value personal experience over an option with no experience at all which is why I repeatedly ask have you driven the car you are placing negative remarks about.

Define drives much better and with absolutely zero experience how can you come to the conclusion the Jag is crap. Oh how is this test like comparing apples with oranges? I don't see a trackday car or a hothatch or even a coupe among them, all I see are luxury products every last one of them.

This....

Amazing to see how JLR makes two of "the best cars in the world"
