My ranking:

The Jaguar: Easily the best car in this group. There's almost nothing wrong about it. Poor reliability perhaps?

The Cadillac: It has a superb high-performance version, but it misses a few points for not offering diesel engines and a mid-range V8 engine.

The Lexus: It doesn't have a high-performance version and it doesn't offer diesel engines, either. But at least it offers a tax-busting hybrid version.

The Infiniti: I'm told it's very good and it's available for sale in the UK, but I haven't seen any on the roads and without the option of diesel engines, I won't see many of them and that means depreciation will be vertiginous. I still can't believe that Nissan, the makers of the GT-R, haven't thought of a GT-R version of this car.

The Honda: Yes, it is a Honda and it's a bit of a joke, actually. For a start its called the "Legend", it doesn't have high-performance version and it doesn't have diesel engines either. It's not a bad car, but the only "legendary" thing about it is the depreciation. The rest of the car is very forgettable; It should be called the Honda Anonymous.

The same thing could be said about the Cadillac = GM, Lexus = Toyota, Infiniti = Nissan.

My only issue with the RL is that it has no V8 option.

What I meant is that while it's sold as an Acura in North America, it's sold in Europe as a Honda and it's a joke of an executive saloon. The Acura TSX is our Honda Accord, btw.

Yes, I know. Same thing goes for the Infiniti in other countries.

The difference is that when it comes to the Honda, Kowalski (and I) actually live in one of those "other countries". ;)
It's also worth noting that the Honda brand has a different image on different markets, I understand that in Britain it's considered an old people's car.

As for my choice... I really wouldn't want to own any of these. The Jag is probably the best car (when judged by my personal standards), but I just can't get over the fact that it looks so much like the Lexus.

LEXUS! Simply due to the ad ages ago of wine glasses on the hood of a LS400 (I think) revving its nuts off. I was a kid then and that ad on CNN captivated me...

Can't bear to look at the upside-down Jaguar headlamp; straight off the previous gen Legacy & current Passat. Looks just as daft as the up-side down fuel & temp gauges in the Mondeo. 'Hey! Let's be different and put the lights upside down!'

:t-upside:

Spoils what is otherwise a pretty o.k. design.

Jaguar XF, specifically the XFR. Nothing here except the Cadillac (performance wise) is even close. The Lexus is a just like the Acura, a "nice", but forgettable, dull as dishwater type car. Why anyone would buy a RL period is beyond me, especially when Acura's own TL is a vastly better car. Who wants a 50K Accord derivative?!

1. Jaguar XFR
2. CTS-V
3. Infiniti M56 - Can't wait to see it in person. Very unique looking inside and out.

Great poll...a good look at some non-German iron.

Never were a fan of the Ford nosed XJ, do not know the other cars that well and I am ANTI-Japanese....

Best American sedan IMO with European overtones, thus the Cadillac CTS:t-cheers:

It's uncanny how Honda managed to turn the monumentally bland Legend into something monumentally hideous. No V8, ugly and almost certain it's not as fun to drive as any of its rivals. The Honda is rubbish.

HighestOfHigh's Thoughts

M - Infiniti has really begun to shine over the last several years. Infiniti has a lot more exciting products and more exclusive designs. Their products have really focused more on sport, while maintaining a luxurious appeal. While I haven’t driven the current M56, I have driven the previous M45 sport as I was blown away. This was even after test driving the previous E-class and 5 series models. The performance of their V8 was nothing short of incredible and it handled very well. Their interiors are very unique and have exceptional quality. The latest M looks very exciting, yet sophisticated. More power, more technology and a more exciting design. The curves give it a very impressive look.

CTS - The Cadillac is a very interesting model. It is truly nowhere near as sleek as the other models, but it has done a lot for Cadillac. The V-series has even impressed those who would have never even looked at Cadillac before. The interior design is very simple yet straight to the point. Cadillac has a very aggressive exterior, which gives it plenty of road presence. It really gave us hope that American automakers can think out of the box. No my choice, but a good job by Cadillac.

XF - Jaguar has really had a big turn around and it started with this car. Very impressive how Jaguar was able to capture the idea of the CLS and produce such an incredible designed care. It manages to be sleek, elegant and command your attention all at the same time. The XFR has really gotten a lot of attention. The car is a real winner for Jaguar and will do much more for the company then the S-type ever did.

GS - The Lexus seems to be the quiet one…literally. It doesn’t really stand out and is not as in your face as the other models. On the other hand I have driven the car and it is very exceptional. The ride is quiet and manages to be very smooth..might not be as impressive as the LS, but still a good choice. The design is very simple yet attractive. The navigation is not nearly as complicated as some of its rivals. It’s a well made car for those who don’t desire a sporty ride.

RL - Acura needs a V8. Although most could care less about it, the Acura is still an above average car. The interior is unique as well as their latest designs. The RL is far less attractive then the TL and previous generations looked way better IMO. I still don’t believe it’s a bad car. I think Acura should consider a redesign ASAP, but overall still not a bad pick for someone who could care less what others think.

My Choice: Infiniti with Jaguar close behind. The Infiniti has me sold with their design, specs and interior. Just on my previous experience with the M45 sport, I know this car will deliver especially considering the huge power increase. The Jaguar is just as impressive, but the desire I have for the Infiniti is much greater.

No doubt about it, it's the XF. It has the looks, it has the handling, it has the power, it has the top notch interior.
