He is not correvt about the Escalade. It will be shown in the end of 2019 as a 2020MY car.
Also there will be a flagman XT8. XT7 will be a mid-size RWD crossover.

... American car makers are so short sighted it isn't even funny...

M

Perhaps nothing is more of a reflection of this than the situation at GMs' Opel subsidiary circa early-1990s' through...well...until PSA recently took over. Numerous GM Detroit "managers" relocated to Rüsselsheim in set intervals to "manage" Opel, resulting in chaos, incompetence and increasingly dwindling market share. At least here in the EU, GM now lies dead in the water. Cadillac is (and will remain) a non-entity here. In North America as well as in China, the prospects may be brighter.

FoMoCo has the far better grip with regard to the understanding of the international automotive industry (despite the PAG miscarriage back in the late 1990s'/early 00s'. And even that brought about some constructive things).

Also if CT6 takes the role of E class and 5 series fighter and CT5 go against 3 series and C class what will CT5-V go against? An M3 and C AMG or M5 and E 63 AMG (since there are no plan for CT6-V ...for now)?

Yes, something like that. Size will be their main card against competitors.

Info from forum member of GMinsidenews...of course nothing official;)

Does he know which engine will go in V versions...a rumored 4.2 l v8 DOHC, 5.5 (if there will be...rumors on corvetteforum suggest there will be) or 6.2 l v8 cam in block?

Of course, it is not official. But it is quite accurate, except for the Escalade and XT7/XT8. I have my man who works on GM)
Is next XT5 going to RWD platform? I mean, if they are going it to sell in Europe new 3.0 liter Inline 6 DMAX is very important.

I don't know yet. I'll ask him in few days. Probably he knows.

I think the next gen XT5/XT6 will be both based on the RWD platforms. JDN said that almost all Cadillacs will b RWD in future. They did not have time to put them on RWD now.

This just wont work. Pitty.

It appears to be an exercise in "seeking the path to the future in a rearview mirror".

We are seeing far too much of this nowadays. Perhaps moreso in sociopolitics of certain nations than at GM headquarters, for that matter.

lol, Cadillac boss, Johan de Nysschen says Apple CarPlay drives him nuts.... Coming from the boss of the company that has the worst infotainment integration in the business right now. I'm no CarPlay/AndroidAuto advocate, but come on now.

“There are a lot of things about this product I like, and other things that drive me absolutely nuts,” de Nysschen told Yahoo Finance at this year’s Detroit auto show. “It can bring a lot of functionality in the car, but I will also tell you it is extremely clunky.”

De Nysschen singled out Apple (AAPL) maps as a particular frustration. “Apple map data is still at the early stage,” he said. “It was not originally conceived for a vehicle traveling at 75 miles per hour. Like when it says turn left here—at the off ramp you have passed. That kind of stuff will need further work.”

[...] When the voice command has been completed, the system is supposed to return to satellite radio. But there have been instances where the iPhone began playing music stored on the phone, essentially taking control of the screen. “I don’t know if Apple is doing it deliberately or not,” de Nysschen says. “But I’m calling them out.”

Seems to be a GM thing to have no self-awareness, or just be in denial. Kind of like how Chevy criticised Ford for switching to aluminum for the current F150; going on about how having a aluminum bed would negatively impact payload...

Look for the XT4 to be revealed in April at the New York International Auto Show. It will be the first Cadillac product to be completely developed under the leadership of Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen.

Spyshots: 2020 Cadillac CT5 Gets Closer to Production, Will Replace ATS and CTS

Sedans are losing traction in favor of SUVs with each new season and Cadillac is working to adapt its model range. As such, the GM brand is working on a three-model saloon lineup. This will kick off with a new CT4, while including the also-new CT5 and the full-size CT6. And while the last will replace the XTS, we're here to focus on the 2020 CT5, which will take the place of both the ATS and CTS.

The newcomer will ride on the Alpha platform, destined to replace the Sigma and the Zeta and its size should sit in between those of the replaced models. This means we'll get a car that aims to offer BMW 5 Series space for 3 Series money.

In the looks department, the Escala Concept influences are strong. It all starts with a long hood, while the aggressive roofline is extremely close to that of the concept. Nevertheless, the boot lid appears to be more conservative on the production model.

As far as the light clusters go, the slim horizontal headlights will play the looker card At the back, you can expect the Escala's Caddy boomerang taillights to stay, while a strip of LEDs should connect the units.

These spyshots don't allow us to peek inside the CT5 and yet we can once again turn to the Escala for inspiration - we've added interior shots of the concept to the gallery above.

In the firepower department, we'll find a long list of units, with the entry motor being a 2.0-liter turbo-four. A 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and a hybrid powertrain involving a two-liter unit are also expected.

As for the potential CT5-V, forum chat mentions the super-sedan receiving a 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8.

The obvious manual gearbox will be joined by the brilliant ten-speed automatic GM co-developed with Ford, while both RWD and AWD aficionados will have their needs catered to.

The Cadillac CT5, which will be brought to the world at the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant, is expected to be introduced by the end of the year, landing as a 2020 model.

The CT5 already looks more intresting than the upcoming BMW 3-series. imho

The profile looks more dynamic and original. Looks like JDN really knows what to do. I'm sure this gonna be the best looking car in its class(D). Inside and out.

JDN is one of the few auto execs that I would entrust in building a brand. I believe that he knows what he is doing. Everyone I know that works at the NYC hq is of similar opinion. He knows how to get talent and change the corporate atmosphere. Example: moving Audi of America hq from auburn hills to Washington and moving Cadillac from Detroit to NYC.
