CarAndDriver: Lexus LFA vs Ferrari 599 GTB HGTE Fiorano

Actually, 11.7 seconds is the LFA. Not the 599 GTB. The 599 GTB did it in 11.8 secs. Again, higher elevation is the reason.

The Ferrari's 0-200 km/h time of 11,7 s is very slow...

Nice test.

Though, LFA and 599 GTB were neck and neck through the 1/4 mile with LFA using launch control (which is what I had predicted). However, both cars will definitely be faster if they were tested at closer to sea level.

They were substantially higher than sea level much like many of their other tests.

They now have text and numbers to go with the Video, and it was shown that the LFA was the winner in this test. A funny thing, the LFA hit 60 in 3.6 seconds, with 'launch control' held it's own in the quarter mile as well, and achieved the same time as the 599.

Typically, at sea-level 599 GTB runs 11.2 - 11.3 secs

599 GTB HGTE:

1/4 mile: 11.8 secs
0 - 150 mph: 17.7 secs

LFA:

1/4 mile: 11.7 secs
0 - 150 mph: 18.4 secs

599 GTB was quicker past 130 mph while LFA was a hair quicker to 60 mph and 1/4 mile. :t-cheers:

"The Lexus feels more athletic than the Ferrari, and its performance is more accessible, more immediately. The engine is remarkable. Austin noted: “They  figured out the engine. It’s really strong, and then you hit about 6500 rpm and your eyes get all big as the power hits another level.” The only street-car engine that matches this one for smoothness, ecstatic noise, and power delivery is the 458 Italia’s."

11,8 s @ 201 km/h - that's why I mentioned 11,7 s @ 200 km/h

:t-cheers:

They (C&D) have always obsessed over Ferrari, so to see this LFA take a win against one of the best Ferrari's, and the most powerful (on the road) is a good sign that the LFA can put up some serious performance relative to it's competition. With the elevation factor I bet the Ferrari and LFA would have been even faster. 0-150mph in 18 seconds, but in the Euro-mags, 300kmh which is about 30mph from 150, comes in over 50 seconds? So, it takes the LFA 32 seconds to achieve about 30mph more speed?
