Edmunds - Comparison Test: 2010 Audi S4 vs. 2009 BMW 335i

YouTube - Fifth Gear - Audi S5 vs BMW 335i Shows that the 335i coupe is actually faster than the S5, so which car is faster is hard to call, but then the S5 has a V8 and is heavier? i don't know how the S4 compares with the S5. What is more certain is that the S4/S5 will "feel" easier to drive, simply because it is AWD and you can find the limits much more easily. Seriously though the S4 is "the sports variant" of A4 while 335i is kinda just another 3series with a bigger engine, it's not supposed to take on the real sports variants... it's kind of a joke really, just look at the interior, you have this ultra sport trimmed S4 interior with sports seats etc. while that 335i is simply luxury with walnut wood trim... come on, this alone tells you these two machines are not for the same purpose.
Have to say though the A4 is very sleek and clean, problem with the E90 i think is it has too many bulges and you get bored/tired with them after seeing too much, but in the flesh it doesn't look old yet imo.

...It really is...

WTH Robert!! are you telling me S4 looks better than this? :eusa_naug

I'd say the S4 is one of the best-looking cars currently in production and easily the best-looking in its class, but maybe that's just me.

Na, it stands no chance against the M3 and stuff like that, but the standard model in red or some other unfitting colour, now, there have been a few years now...

M3 or M-sport, better. Standard, maybe not..

Still doesn't compare with the S4. It's the overall shape of the Audi that does the trick for me, and many subtle details. Don't get me wrong, I love the 335i, but I like that S4 a bit more.

I agree with this. But in terms of value, the 335i has it beat. It's not like the 335i is a lot slower than S4. The difference is enough for it to be a drivers game in real world situations.

Like I said earlier, the difference down to the 335i from the S4 is $10k regarding the cars tested. If you pay that for the S4, you would only need $4k more to get a great spec M3...

LOL, dude. Read my post from above the pictures...that should make my opinion clear for you. :D

Just in case you don't want to go up top to read, lemme break it down for ya: I think the S4 is a beautiful car, but it's not a good car for the value when compared to the 335i. The 335i offers pretty much same performance but for a lot less. The only difference are the looks and if you prefer AWD vs. RWD.

Thanks :D I was just trying to assist you in proving your point :usa7uh:

Hmm...The BMW actually looks decent. Or maybe it's just that blue color.

Honestly Mike, you might be right. When it comes down to it, Audi designs are very straight forward. Almost flawless! There is nothing that "bad" about their designs. The most someone could say is that it's plain. All though I am not a hard core A4 person, the S5 is remarkable in terms of design.

Still when it comes to this segment...My favorites...

What about a standard A4 vs E90?
I have a friend with the new A4 Avant and his previous car was the old A4. Both in black and to me the new one looks like a facelifted version of his previous A4.

***, I turn my back on this place for 10 minutes... :D Andreas and I have been on the same forums for, well, many years now, but I've never been a moderator on GCF.

Regarding the standard A4 over the standard 3-series; I think I would go for the BMW. The A4 CC (or A5 Sportback, as some say) would, however, get the nod.

So, I guess it is like this for me:

1. M3
2. S4 even with the 3-series M-sport
3. A4 CC
4. 3-series
5. A4
