Facelifted Lexus LS600h, GS450h and IS250 F-Sport Unveiled

September 1st

Though some find the Lexus LS series a bit on the plain side for a premium executive luxury sedan, there are also those that just can't get over its pleasing lines. Whatever camp you fall into, you're unlikely to change your mind for the 2010 model year, as official images revealed today show little is changing. Likewise, the GS and IS lines get minor cosmetic upgrades but largely carry forward their current design cues, though a much-needed performance element is being added to the IS-F.

Updates to the LS are primarily visual, with previous leaks confirming the grille will be tweaked to match the newer HS250h, along with updated side-mirror turn signals, new wheels and a slightly modified rear bumper/taillight combo. The latest photos show updated headlights, while Lexus promises major upgrades to the equipment specifications and seating configuration inside the car. Driving dynamics are also said to be improved.

For the GS line, a similar set of updates are shown, with the hybrid getting more unique elements to set it apart from the rest of the GS range. New audio and navigation systems, an updated color range and enhanced safety features round out the GS updates.

The IS stays true to the theme of minimal styling changes and updated interior features, with a new F-Sport package (shown here) and new nav and audio systems now available. The big news for the IS range, however, is the addition of a limited-slip differential (LSD) to the high-performance IS-F.

Full details and information on the updated LS, GS and IS ranges will be revealed at the Frankfurt Auto Show on September 15.

What? Wimmer posting a Lexus thread? Is it for real... or the fasting is really affecting me? :t-hands:

I spotted this on Club Lexus and thought it was relevant news. ;)

I still don't like Lexus. I can respect them as a brand but they make cars that do not in the slightest appeal to me.

Nice photo. :D

Lexus design is just a hopeless cause, perfect consumer goods though. For people who want silence/reliability/comfort and no attention or thrills, they're perfect. The IS and LX are the only Lexuses I like, the LS sorta, but before this facelift.

Well to be honest, most people have no idea what "thrills" are beyond high hp figures. I personally like the IS, and GX. I don't like the LX simply because it's a Land Cruiser with a higher price point than the luxury it offers.

BTW, I can't really see any changes on the IS. So what's different?

True and most people wouldn't know a good looking car if it ran them over so styling is another clueless thing too, which is why Lexus/Toyota and others prosper.

Hard to see what the differences are per say.

Mercedes dealer told me that the next S-Class and Lexus LS will be based on the same chassis and that the S-Class will get the smaller petrol engines and the Lexus will get V8s and V12s only. The top of the line LS600TT will have a 700hp turbo V12. The top of the line S will be a 300hp V6 S300.

M

^Are you sure the dealer wasn't drunk?

I can understand with all the environmental issues that they would downsize a little. And I have a feeling that it might be a 50/50 chance we might not see a S65 AMG after the W221 cycle is over. On the other hand, I don't see Mercedes-Benz partnering with Lexus and letting them have the "super-power" engines and Mercedes-Benz has a 4000 pound car with a 300hp engine basically sending it back to the V8 of the W220.

This seems more like a rumour then anything.

HoH....lol.....I can't believe you fell for that. Read my original post on the S/LS again!!! LOL...

:dazed053: I knew something was up. But what made me wonder is that Benz was suppose to be looking at Toyota as a partner for building smaller engines, I'm guessing for SMART/ A-Class/B-Class. So I figure they could have been a rumour going around about Lexus getting the use of Mercedes-benz bigger engines.

Then there was the environment standards that would be in affect probably around 2011-2013 when the new S-class came out. I still have a bad feeling that the S65 AMG may fall victim to this.

But I knew you had to be up to something.. ;)

LOL....Seriously thought I doubt we'll see another S65. Mercedes is supposed to have a new V12 on hand, but it might not get the AMG treatment. I know it sounds odd, but the top of the line AMG S of the future might be that 600-700 turbo V8 we keep hearing about. Who knows as this point.

Guys, it wouldn't surprise me if Lexus released an LS250h and then released a thousand press ads talking about their boldness and innovation and how this is a first... :t-crazy2:

:D

^ They could....But all Lexus are bad though. I got a chance to drive the V8 GS430 and loved it.

Yea, maybe they will have just an S63 AMG. As long as the S600 is still on hand, I guess I will be ok

You mean "not all Lexus are bad"? ;)

I agree. My favorite Lexus is actually the LS, but the rest of the lineup just doesn't speak to me. Most of their cars are reliable but aside from "good balance" (which the Germans excel in) Lexus cars are way to overrated in my opinion.

Lexus

Founded in 1989, the Lexus brand is marketed in over 90 countries and territories worldwide and is Japan's largest-selling make of premium cars. Lexus is headquartered in Nagoya, Japan.
