Human and martinbo's Compact SUV Winter Meet-up

Awesome donau. It really is a small world isn't it?

It is amazing how small the world has become:)

LOL. And how small can the world actually get!? Me, born in Senekal and grew up in Bethlhem:) Old Vrystater!, although I am a Sharks supporter hie-hie..
Please to meat you donau, where do you reside now?
:t-cheers:

Pleased to meet you too:t-cheers: My wife is also a full-bloodied Vrystater since she was born in Smithfield and as I already mentioned grew up mainly in your area although she also attended Oranje Meisieskool in Bloemfontein.

I currently live in Winston-Salem North Carolina but also have residence in my old childhood area of Turku, Finland.

Meisieskool.....I love that word!

Echt super lekker

BTW, Bloemfontein is such a great word too. Every time I read it, I think of some fantastic city in sunny Afrika where there's actual fountains spraying crazy colored flowers. So wonderful.

Meisieskool (girls school) sounds lekker in any language:D
:t-cheers:

And it's actually Oranje Meisies Hoër = (High) School, with the umlaut on the e - Hoër. Without the umlaut....Hoer=Whore in Afrikaans/English LOL.

We sound like a bunch of horny buggers, well as I said

I don't see the deelteken on the e on their facebook page!

I was wondering, how does someone "book" your car for a wedding that you are not invited to? Do you rent your car out as a business?

LOL, they should pay attention to their spelling!

I now the groom, he was a former employee of our local BMW dealer. He asked them for a BMW X6 for their wedding, the local dealer did not have one available, the sales manager of our local dealer contacted me and because I know the groom I agreed to lend my car. Only then was me and the wife also invited, but we declined;) My car was driven by the sales manager of the local BMW dealer and I signed a paper stating that the car will be insured by them (local dealer) for that day.

LOL @ your wfies reaction Martin. My wife rolls her eyes when she sees me commenting on GCF. She's now banned from looking at what I write and forum time is my 'alone' time. I can only imagine her reaction if I told her I was meeting up with some fellow aussie forumers.

Welcome to the "We actually met people from GCF" Club. Hahah. Glad to see you guys had a great time. And it's good to know that majority of us regulars aren't weirdos. I myself have met 2 people so far and plan on meeting up with more. Still trying to plan a trip to Malaysia, but first is my trip to Santa Cruz, where I might meet up with one of the members from there.

Though it has been repeated several times, it is really nice to see members of a community meet up to discuss what we all love--cars. I am sure you two had a grew time. Seeing this, of course, makes me wonder when GCF is going to have the ultimate get together. I mean, many of us have known each other, over the internet, for many years now. We've, in a way, seen each other grow, change cars, get married and even have children. Either way, we've all moved forward as a community through good and bad.

Next time you guys meet up, you have to take more pictures!

I did not view myself a real weirdo as per se, maybe 'unique':D Meaning that one can chat to family and close friends about cars for let say, 10 minutes and soon most male friends would get bored by the subject. Me? no way! I can talk cars and all related to cars for hours on end. I mean just seeing an interview with say Dr. Z of Daimler on Bloomberg gets me going LOL. Most of us do have other hobbies etc. Just that cars is what we really love and everything else comes second....and good to know that counting the members on GCF, I am not alone! Meeting Martin in person and chatting cars was the confirmation that there are people just like me:)

I feel you on that. It's the same for most of us, I'd say. I can bore the daylights out of anyone who says "Yeah, I love cars." Then I get all technical on them just because I like engineering as a hobby of sorts. But yes, we do have other subjects as well. Like when I met Nate in Vegas, aka Gullwing, we chatted about cars and even went to a museum of cars but then we also went to casinos and got smashed and talked about guns. Haha. And of course meeting Tarek in Egypt was cool. Talked about a lot of things there too, plus I was there with family. But I missed out on seeing Klier in Holland by a few hours. I'll make it up. :D

Lol, that happens all the time to me. Out of all the people I know, my father is the one most interested about cars and even though he is, he always gets tired of me talking about cars, especially while we're in the sauna. This is a place where I can discuss all I want about cars without anyone changing the subject or falling asleep. :D
Anyway, great to see members meeting each other, it's a really unique thing to a forum, especially in an international one.
