BMW uped their game exterior wise, and I cannot digest the FL E new font and rear.

As of the interior, the E is the winner for me, feels spacious and still fresh, and the new steering is hot.

My vote goes for the BMW because I think its the better car overall, while I will still not buy it due to the interior.

E Class LCI doesn't work for me in the slightest. LCI 5 series is much improved, which IMHO it needed, but it's still quite spec dependent. These bumpers that BMW are putting on the standard models these days are pretty horrible. Also, the front and the back of the BMW look a bit like different cars now... if they could have done more at the back it would have helped.

Interior wise, BMW hands down, I've never liked the the look or layout of this generation of Mercedes interiors, and at very least I prefer the familiarity of the layout of the BMW.

The exterior design of the G30/31 offers a sort of "tension" that the W/S213 does not possess. I'm a fan of BMW interiors in general.

The facelifted E-Class is by no means an unattractive car. It's not nearly as terrible as some folks here are saying. That said, the 5er LCI takes it for me hands down. Outside and inside.

Exterior: 5er LCI >>>>>> F/L E

Yes, the design bits changed to the E are not bad when considered in a vacuum. But in terms of M-B, it just doesn't feel like it represents the brand of M-B. The 5er, on the other hand, still looks like BMW. Everything that was a bit roly-poly on the G30 has been tightened up with the facelift.

Interior: 5er LCI >> F/L E.

I get a bit more of a sense of occasion with the E and the screens are better integrated. But living with it day in and day out, I think BMW's ergonomic game is the best in town. The I-drive wheel is more intuitive, esp coupled with the touch screen.

As mentioned before, the 5er looks like a BMW. This new design language on Mercedes-Benz, it just doesn't feel like a Mercedes-Benz. I prefer the grace and stateliness of the pre-F/L and then having the option of adding a bit more aggression with an AMG pack rather than having that constant furrowed brow. It has lost that quiet confidence that has been part of M-B's design DNA, and, to me, that's part of the brand's appeal.

The 5-Series takes round 2 of this generation. The updated looks and the V8 make the M550i the choice for me over the E53 if it were I shopping in this class.

With its oversized rims to make it look like a great design. Tricky. I'll pass on the A6. I'd take both the Beemer and the Merc before.
