I continue to be unhappy about an element of GCF that's about as welcome as catastrophic diarrhoea on a long walk, on a hot day, in white trousers. Personally, I'd have never stated anything about the aging of interior as being fact, but that doesn't excuse the shit fest that has followed.

Also, since I can only assume that you are responding to me.. tag me, or reply. I don't like passive aggressive cowards.

The W221 interior still looks very modern today despite been introduced on the market more than 13 years ago. It displays a simple elegance that is missing in many newer luxury cars, yet still has modern digital TFT instrument display and decent infotainment system. This car introduced real aluminium buttons and controls, the seat and door switches look better than many newer cars as well. Its got an interior that will look good after at least another generation of S-class models.

Hmmm - quite disappointing the extent of vitriol and contempt being displayed in this thread.

I personally can't grasp why people would harbour such disdain against someone who is simply stating their opinion - albeit one that goes against the establishment - and contributing to discussion in this forum, and, in an Internal Combustion thread at that. We all know that such conversation is bound to be a bit more controversial and robust but the way that an individual is blatantly criticised for simply expressing a viewpoint which doesn't conform to the status quo is just plain sad.

Are we as a community to accept that certain cars are simply off limits for critique and, because, in the case here, the mighty S-Class (it's still just a car) is the holy grail of motoring and beyond reproach to the point that a conversationalist is the recipient of "ad hominems" which go beyond light banter?

I, for one, see no issue in someone's personal opinion challenging the establishment and catalysing discussion in a multi-brand forum until it becomes personal. Let's all try - me included - to be more tolerant and civil.

I agree. A masterclass in the art of interior design and perhaps the finest S-Class interior to date in terms of "the visual".
And were it not for the "gen I Ford Focus Bubbles", the W221s' exterior is very attractive as well.

Read Rolf’s replies his the only one out of the MB gang who had a constructive argument the rest of you behave like wild dogs.

Thats why there’s so little activity on MB threads of late can’t handle criticism .BMW threads are more tolerable probably because BMW are building some really nice cars at the moment. I really do enjoy these internal combustion and the blatant fake laughs are the best. I don’t know why but I have imagined some of you throwing your laptops and phones against the wall after reading my comments .

What antagonises people, IMHO, is not the opinions of certain posters, but that the motive behind posting their opinion appears to be to provoke a reaction.

And after all everything comes to personal taste. I think that the S class is mighty impressive, its the leader of the pack in the luxury segment, because it caters the best to the needs of its(the class) protentional customers. And still, to me, its baroque style looks too heavy, too pompous and I'd rather much prefer the more sporty, more straight forward (not in your face) design of the interiors of all 7er generations.
And to put AUDI also in the discussion, I find that the best looking was the interior of the D2, the D3 being the most disgusting and the D4 being not very far from the D3.
