Mercedes Benz Developing New EV Architecture

Edit: after comparing the pictures here to the Concept Style Coupé from a couple of years ago, I don't think we see here a new model.

Yes, it's quite similar to the Style Coupe, although the lower grille gained some slats, and it may sit a bit higher? :)

There is no mention of the electric concept for Geneva?

MB listed the GLA Coupe for the spring of 2017 the other day, but then deleted it for some reason? :)

^ Could be. It was really a little low to the ground? :)

Hope these are the upcoming EV models. That coupe model - if electric - is a sure purchase for me.

interesting, but i would rather that they went with making a EV out of existing benzes, not like BMW making a sub brand with goofy styling. You should not have to pay the price of wierd styling just cause you want to drive electric.
Its like the Prius had a design penalty for early adopters of hybrids, now there are hybrids of normal production designs..

I don't like the look at me in my little wierd car thing.

^ Yes, that's what I expect as well, a multi-model architecture to work with existing models, and also newer ones, like the F015, F125!, MM 6 and even including the new one to be presented in just a few hours. :)

2016 in Paris: Heralding a New Era of E-Mobility

Daimler AG will soon reach its next milestone on its journey to emissions-free driving. The developers at Mercedes-Benz are working on a new, intelligent concept for a multi-model vehicle architecture for purely battery-powered vehicles. As already demonstrated by the F 015 and F 125! research vehicles, the new platform will be consistently designed for emissions-free, battery-powered driving.

When implementing this into series production, Mercedes-Benz is not only benefiting from its internal development and production expertise but also from the group's multi-model series modular strategy for alternative drive systems and direct access to key components for electromobility. The highly efficient lithium ion battery supplied by Daimler's subsidiary Deutsche ACCUMOTIVE combined with the intelligent Mercedes-Benz operation strategy allows purely battery-driven ranges of up to 500 km for the first time.

Rapid charging using the Combined Charging System (CCS), which is being incorporated into this innovative vehicle for the first time, makes charging and operation as convenient as possible. Mercedes-Benz is thus offering a fully fledged electric vehicle in the luxury segment that does not cut any corners – heralding a new era of e-mobility. The global debut will take place at the Paris Motor Show, and the market launch is planned by the end of the decade.

Market launch - end of the decade???
Damn - it means I will need to lease a petrol car for another three years.

Regarding another post - it is much better to design a new EV car, rather then using existing designs. The existing models aren't design with to have batteries below the seats, so they put the batteries in the trunk and in the front.
Design a new car - but it doesn't need to be as goofy as the i3, although i8 is gorgeous (my opinion)

Saw the live fb feed it's a SUV electric with range of 500 km...interior looks stunning...exterior looks cool...if prices are good I would probably buy one.
