We can say that they aren't the best, but they aren't world class, that is just total BS. Never have been is BS, not by a long shot is also BS. Only the ZF gearbox is better and that is because it is sportier. The problem here is that Benz isn't going for that, it doesn't suite the character of the car. The ZF in my 650i would feel out of place in the S550 with the shift logic employed by BMW.

W124 auto was clunky compared to the 5er of the time. Benz autos were fine in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Modern Benz autos are far behind ZF and VW group boxes. I am the biggest MB fan and don't need to argue with all you incorrect peeps. Do your research. Check the test reviews. It's all there..

If you have to go back 30 years to make a point then there is no point. Benz boxes are not far behind ZF and especially VW gearboxes if you're talking apples to apples, not a regular auto vs a DSG. Do your own research. I don't need a review to tell me what I've experienced. MB isn't going for sporty how like most (BMW, Jaguar etc) program their ZF boxes. If they were they've had over 15 years to do it by now, it is clear they aren't trying to.

I don't care who builds what. Ford manual gearboxes are better than BMW and MB, end of discussion . Regarding Automatics, I'll come back to you when I have become a grandpa until then who gives a shit which one is the best, those gearboxes from BMW and MB are state of arts so why bother arguing which one is % better... Fords Automatic gearboxes, do they even offer that for grandpa's Ford??

Yes I write about Ford because I know it's butt hurting and I know people can't stand it. People get upset so stop feeding the dog (me) and perhaps I stop one day. More food just makes this more fun...

Yeah I drove several BMW, MB, Audi, VW before I bought e Ford but from a driving point, neither BMW or MB or the others were close. So why waste the money on them when they can't meet my standards.

As far as I know Getrag supply some gearboxes to both Ford and VW.

Getrag supplies the DCT for the Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo (Fusion), Kuga and Galaxy.

Getrag also supplies AMG with the "7DCL750" for the GT/S. This is the same transmission as in the Ferrari 458.

lol'd about the article. I don't know why Autozeitung writes overwhelmingly negative about MB in almost every article. Even the biggest Anti-MB-Magazine in the whole milkyway - Autobild - claims that the 7G-Tronics+ delivers a better shifting than the 6-speed DSG in the VW Passat TDI. VW DCTs don't have a good reputation here in germany, since they had massive reliability problems.
