E-Class W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213 Test Drives

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
It has yet not to amaze me just how utterly pedestrian and bland (in "strippo taxi spec) and/or, in contrast, spellbindingly beautiful (the automobile above, AMG models, etc.) the W213 can look. It's quite the phenomenon.

Haven't got much time for a proper write-up. What I can say is, that this car is the perfect gentleman's AMG. It's not as fast as an E63s, but also not as "shouting" and ostentatious. I would debadge it completely and just savour this very fast and very smooth piece of engineering. To me it's THE E class of the current W213 line up.
If anyone wants to know anything specific, don't hesitate to ask.

Stunning car what are your views compared to the S class the pluses or minuses compared to the S

Rather difficult to compare the both of them, fortuner. First the E43 is focused on speed in a refined way, the airsuspension is in every mode stiffer. Still it's a very comfortable car if you want it to be. In sport+ it's a true sportscar compared to the S. Compared to a 911 however, it's sporty 4 door saloon. It's got a very communicative steering, much more than the S, of course. It's really fun to drive. But if you don't want to be involved, the E43 leaves you alone to relax. The S is comfort all over. No sport aspirations whatsoever.

Thank you

Yes I drove a S class it's definitely in a different league thank you.

Would you consider buying a E class or would it be toomuch of a drop for you from the S class ?

How your found the quality and build and finish of the E.

Close to perfection

That would be a considerable "drop" as far as I'm concerned. The only reason for migrating from an S to an E would of a financial kind.

I have to agree that when I drove the S it was just beyond any other car I drove...I agree on this it's a drop down. Thanks for your friendly responses .

@Mick Briesgau is there a big difference in the ride quality and noise suppression in a S-class compared to an E-class? Is the S-class vastly better or only slightly?

If you had to compare the build quality, ride quality and noise suppression of the E-class compared to 7-series which would you say is better?

I'd say, there's a significant difference between the S and the E in all aspects you mentioned, @Rolf. The S is imo vastly better.
Ride quality and noise suppression of the 7er are clearly above the E. The 7er has some flaws in the used interior materials (mind you, not build quality) one doesn't immediately see (plastic doorsills and lower b-pillar and in the left/right outer side of the rearseat. The same can be seen in the E as well. As whole however, you can't really compare the E and the 7er, they play in a different league.

Not sure of this is a repost, but I just came across this; I gotta say that I love this guyz Germanically efficient style of reviewing lol..he has a tape measure with him:cool:..

That's Jan Gleitsmann aka Mr. Zzeee (german for "th" like in Thousand) :D;)
I like his videos too.

I enjoy Mr. Zzeee's videos. He's a self confessed Mercedes fanboy. At the pre-release when they got to listen to the demonstration of the high end Burmester sound system, he came out with tears in his eyes! LOL. :ROFLMAO:

Now all of a sudden it seems, there are E43s everywhere here. It's a great (but pricey) car. Wait until the I6 comes on board though.

The only Australian review of the E 400 sedan. Not the best review or the most accurate but this is the best we have.
