Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

I hope the GLC EV will bring in a new styling direction that will make everyone sit up and take notice. I wish that this model and upcoming C EV, E EV and upcoming MMA cars will bring success to the brand. With BMW bringing the adventurous NK models they will need all the luck they need.
Only one week left and no leaks

I’d temper your expectations. Remember the electric GLC and C-class were designed quite some time ago and the new grille was placed on the car after the fact. They weren’t designed to resemble the earlier EQ cars but also weren’t designed during this new effort to be aligned with the ICE vehicles either. They look good though, imo.

The E-class EV will be the first electric Mercedes designed in the way of a classic Mercedes despite being electric.

Well, at least the leaked C-Class front end looks good.

Mercedes-Benz achieves 107 GWh battery capacity

Mercedes-Benz has signed one of the industry's largest battery supply contracts to date with LG Energy Solution (LGES). The South Korean manufacturer will supply a total of 107 gigawatt hours (GWh) of battery cells for electric vehicles.

LG is expected to deliver 32 GWh for Europe from August 2028 to December 2023, and 75 GWh for the US from July 2029 to December 2037. This will ensure Mercedes' long-term supply security in both key markets.

Officially, financial details are being kept secret. However, Korean media estimate the contract value at around 15 trillion won, or approximately 9.3 billion euros or $10.7-10.8 billion. The delivery will include 46-series cylindrical battery cells, which offer higher energy density, better performance, and more efficient production. A 70 kWh battery pack produced from these cells could power approximately 1.5 million electric vehicles.

Mercedes has signed a major agreement with LG Energy Solution. The agreement consists of two components:

LG will supply 75 GWh of battery cells to its Tuscaloosa plant in the US from July 2029 to December 2037. These will likely be MB.EA-L SUVs produced at the Tuscaloosa plant. These could also include a GLE EQ and GLS EQ

32 GWh is planned for Europe from August 2028 to December 2035.

This major supply agreement covers the new 46-cell round battery (4.6 cm in diameter). The prismatic cells are currently used in the Mercedes-Benz MMA (CLA, GLA, GLB) and Mercedes-Benz EA-M (GLC EQ, C-Class EQ, E-Class EQ).
This new supply agreement foresees the use of a 46-cell round battery in the MB.EA-Large platform. This eliminates the module layer and integrates the round cells directly into the battery compartment and housing.

Therefore, the S-Class EQ's current launch date is August 2028.

Vehicles based on this platform (large SUVs like the GLE or GLS EQ) will be launched in the US in July 2029.

The AMG.EA platform will also launch in autumn 2026 and will use round cells, but with a thin diameter so that heat can be quickly transferred from the thin round cells to the oil bath at extremely high charging currents of approximately 850 kWh.

107 GWh hours based on a battery of approximately 125 kWh (estimated) corresponds to approximately 856,000 electric vehicles. With a contract term of approximately nine years, this agreement covers approximately 100,000 vehicles per year.
