Right but even with a B-pillar the Mercedes Coupes are too heavy IMO. For example, the M4 is lighter than the M3, but the C63 S Coupe is heavier than the C63 S Limo. So I don't know what Mercedes is doing wrong here.

M4 Coupe: 1615 kg
C63 S Coupe: 1800 kg

M4 Cabrio: 1865 kg
C63 S Cabrio: 1915 kg

M3: 1635 kg
C63 S Limo: 1730 kg

Perhaps the fact that the C63 uses a V8 vs I6 might account for this? Surely, the V8 is adding to the weight difference between these two.

Afaik the AMG Ride Control builts on an air suspension which is normally heavier than a classic chassic with oil dampers. What's more the C63 uses a fancy tuned torque converter auto which weighs more than a dual-clutch transmission. This might explain the higher kerb weight compared to the M3/M4.

The greater torque output of the AMG V8 engine requires heavy duty drivetrain components. Everything from the drive-shafts, suspension arms, axles, to the bearings will have to be bigger to take the punishment. The C63S coupe has a bespoke rear axle that's near racing specification and is heavier than the one found in the sedan.

Also, the C is a slightly larger car than the BMW 3/4 and hence the heavier weight.

But I agree, Mercedes and AMG need to make their cars lighter.

AMG's Dirk Heldmann explained the C 63 S Coupe's rear axle the other day in a video. Differs from the C 63 S Sedan, but may be shared with the E 63 S Sedan, and perhaps a future AMG E Coupe? :)

Sorry if this is already answered, but will this be a four seater only?

Now excuse me but that`s a coupe if you know what I mean. I can`t wait for the official photos but this is already looking gorgeous.

Waiting as well for official pictures in a few days, but they could have done a better job with the front end design of the car in terms of differentiating the headlights more from the ones in the Limo. Otherwise, I think this is my favourite Coupe out of C, E and S.
Exactly a let down to me too.

Must say it does look good, but it is in AMG trim which makes any Merc look good. That interior if it is the final product is amazing. Those vents are better that the TTs which IMO is the benchmark. Now Merc just need to get rid of the gastly dual screen setup.

This car is turning out to be a stunner for sure, better than all of us expected after seeing the covered up mules.
