EQA [Spy Shots] Mercedes EQA Spyshots

The Mercedes-Benz EQA is a battery electric subcompact luxury crossover SUV (C-segment) produced by Mercedes-Benz since February 2021. Part of the EQ family, the vehicle uses the MFA2 platform, which designates C-segment and smaller-sized D-segment vehicles which use a base front-wheel drive layout.

I like that 2dr EQA concept, I think it will probably look much better than the EQA SUV production version, but as SUVs are the rave at the moment, a 2dr coupe hatch wont cut it

The Mercedes EQA debuts in November with three versions and up to 700 kilometers of autonomy

It is one of the great debuts that the star brand is preparing for before the end of 2020, given the wave of new electric models that is coming for this second half of the year. The Mercedes EQA is ready and about to be unveiled, based on the new GLA but with very special details.

The Mercedes EQA is based on the new generation of the GLA, the compact SUV. The brand of the star has called the architecture "EVA 1.5", since much of it is from the combustion models, "emptying" the central part to house the battery, with three levels of capac
ity available: 60, 80 and 110 kWh, so the autonomy will oscillate between 400 and 700 kilometers, rechargeable at 80% in 30 minutes.

The Mercedes EQ model will differ from the combustion model by very specific details, such as the closed grille with a panel that reproduces the chrome bars of the star grille and a practically smooth bumper, with almost no cooling openings other than on the part lower. At the back, the gate has a new design, with the smooth panel and the license plate at the bottom, so the lights will also maintain the combustion design, although a light bar will unite them.

The adaptation of the EVA 1.5 platform has allowed us to offer a greater interior space, so that will be the main distinctive compared to the GLA. And, again, without changes to the dashboard that will retain the entire design structure of the current model, with two large screens, although with specific power and consumption meters for the sustainable mobility model.

Mercedes is aware that the weight will be one of the great ballasts of this EQA, but they say they have worked to offer generous benefits. For now, we do not know the composition of the range, but we do know that they will offer three versions: a basic one with the motor installed in front and 150 kW (204 HP) and with a second motor on the rear axle to add 200 kW (272 HP) and 250 kW (340 CV). How much will it cost? Although its presentation is close, defining a number is complicated, but the cheapest, will start from approximately 45,000 Euros.

The pic above looks very close I think and realistic..

400 to 700 km range would be very good.i imagine the one in between would be a 550 km range that's very good for a small car and would definitely be a positive step for Mercedes EQ business.

The pic above looks very close I think and realistic.....
That would be very good given that small BEVs are usually range limited because of their short floors. However long range won't be a priority of a small car is mainly used for short journeys or in start and stop traffic.

If the figures above are true then it would be a great step forward of priced correctly Definately one I would look at living in and around London.

There's more room in the Mercedes compact family :)

Mercedes-Benz’s highly flexible compact car architecture has dramatically simplified the process of creating and developing new models, opening the door for more members of the A-Class, GLA and CLA families.
Most significantly, though, the all-new platform also supports electrified models and the likelihood of a zero-emissions companion alongside the, as yet, only confirmed compact EV – EQA.

Speaking to journalists, Mercedes compact vehicle chief development engineer Axel Heix and head of overall vehicle testing Jochen Eck said the new MFA platform allowed the relatively simple creation of more small vehicles and the electrification of others.

“It’s clearly a huge help to have a fully developed platform that’s capable of carrying alternative drivetrains so we don’t have to worry about all the bases such as suspension, body-in-white, interior, exterior that’s all well developed and we can ‘simply put an alternative drivetrain in it’."

That new flexibility could result in two equally exciting outcomes.

Mercedes EQA on final testing

The electric GLA (EQA) will come with front-wheel and all-wheel drive in spring 2021.

Mercedes-Benz is currently carrying out the final checks on the fully electric GLA / EQA. After the GLC / EQC, the GLA / EQA is the second series in which Mercedes-Benz offers all types of drive. In addition to pure gasoline and diesel engines, the GLA 250e has a very successful plug-in hybrid. The electric GLA (EQA) will start in spring 2021 with a slight delay. The order approval should take place in the first quarter of 2021.

The electric drives are still supplied by ZF, as with the EQC.

The EQA is delivered with a front drive as standard. But there will be numerous performance levels. The crowning glory will be an EQA AMG with one motor on each axle.

Charging is done on Type 2 AC with 11 KW (3-phase). The charging power via DC CCS will be in the range of the EQC and EQV with around 110 KW.

The power consumption will probably not reach the benchmark Kona Electric in the segment. The battery will be in the range of 60 to 70 kWh. Internet reports with a battery option of up to 110 kWh are incorrect. This battery only fits in the new EQS with the EVA2 architecture.

The range will be around 350 to 420 km, depending on the drive configuration.

The EQA will be strong in the areas of connectivity (MBUX), driving comfort and noise behavior. Compared to the VW id3, you get an interior with a high material appearance and an MBUX system without any weaknesses. According to Mercedes, the EQA will not reach the maximum range of 549 km of the VW id3 with the large battery.

The registration statistics also show that it won't be long before the EQA celebrates its world premiere. In October, 13 series Mercedes EQA models were already registered.

EQA receives the GLA interior

But now to the facts about the EQA:
  • EVA1.5 is based on MFA2
  • EQA is an electric GLA
  • The EQA has a closed radiator grille
  • Front-wheel drive with different power levels and all-wheel drive as an option (second motor on the rear axle as an option)
  • AMG variant should come (possibly with the performance data of the EQC 400 4matic with 408 PS)
  • Mercedes-Benz does not want to shine with a long range of the EQA; the EQS should take on this role with over 700 km WLTP
  • A range of 350 to 420 km is expected
  • Motorway range at 120 km/h almost 300 km
  • A battery capacity of around 60 kWh is under discussion
  • AC is charged with 3 phases with 11 kW
  • DC using CCS was spotted at public charging stations with 106 kW. However, a higher charging capacity cannot be ruled out, as the charging capacity depends on the state of charge
  • The EQA (H243) is produced together with the GLA (H247) at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt

If it comes only with a range of 400km then this is a big disappointment, they should offer different battery sizes like VW are doing to increase range to at least 550 to 600km max.

Compact car class customers can look forward to two fully electric compact SUVs in the EQA and EQB in 2021. EQA will celebrate its world premiere on January, 20 2021 as the first fully electric derivative of this compact car. The EQA production launch at the Mercedes-Benz Rastatt plant went smoothly. As with the EQC from Bremen and Beijing and the EQV from Vitoria, which are already on the market, the fully electric models at the Rastatt plant run on the same production line as compact vehicles with conventional and hybrid drives. That means all five vehicles produced in Rastatt are electrified: In addition to the fully electric EQA, the A‑Class, A-Class sedan, B-Class and the compact SUV GLA are also produced at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt - with classic combustion engines as well as plug-in hybrid drive. With that the Mercedes-Benz Rastatt plant is making an important contribution on the road to a CO₂ neutral vehicle fleet and to the Mercedes-Benz AG electric offensive. EQA production will also follow next year (2021) at BBAC in Beijing for the Chinese market.

EQA PRODUCTION IS RUNNING - WORLD PREMIERE IN JANUARY 2021

At Mercedes-Benz, production for the EQA has already started at the Rastatt plant - as previously announced. The world premiere of the compact model with an electric motor from the Mercedes-EQ sub-brand will take place on January 21.

EQA: World premiere on January 20, 2021 in Munich - order release at the beginning of February

Everything is going as planned for the EQA: after production has already started at the Rastatt plant, the model will have its world premiere on January 20, 2021 in Munich. The order approval for the EQA will start as early as February 2021.

After production of the first all-electric compact SUV EQA has already started, production for the Chinese market will start in the Beijing plant at the German-Chinese joint venture BBAC in 2021.

The EQB, on the other hand, is produced in the Keskemét plant for the world market and at BBAC in Beijing for the Chinese market.
