Stellantis does Mercedes?

Another source JESMB has mentioned the AMG GLC EQ will have an incredible 700kw (952PS)!!! That is double the power of the legendary 5.4 supercharged V8 in the W211 E55 AMG, which wasn't exactly a slow car and could accelerate to 100km/h (62mph) in 4,6sec.

One can argue endlessly about the eye-appeal (or lack of) of current M-B electric vehicles, but the innovative tech is genuinely remarkable. And as M-B has been doing its homework regarding the fit and finish qualities of its interiors, exterior design remains the issue that IMHO needs to be addressed. Here's to hoping that the unveiled AMG "GT XX" 4 door, C-Class EQ and E-Class EQ sedans will present a very pleasant surprise. The camo'd prototypes are leaving me apprehensive, I'm afraid.

....to make a long story short, Lucid had a 670 kW motor in 2016. Almost 10 years ago.
Lucid also doesn't make their cars available for many markets, and their cars are not cheap either. They're really good, don't get me wrong, but I can't buy one - even if I wanted to.

Besides, power isn't the point, its everything else, as long as its good. Lets see how it shakes out.

I've often read that what Lucid has accomplished with its radial e-motors is immensely impressive. In terms of compact dimensions, power density, etc. But apparently, according to people far, far more knowlegable than I will ever be, the YASA axial flux e-motor has it firmly trumped in the above mentioned aspects. Of course, development and innovation is moving so rapidly in this area, who knows what examples of ingenious brilliance will be shortly forthcoming ?

Model S Plaid is closing in on 5 years. Surely you can buy that where you live? And regarding price, there's no way a 900+ hp GLC will be cheaper than a Plaid.

Don't get me wrong I am not trying to downplay the GLC (I think 900 hp is madness already), but to call it a technological highlight when other brands literally have three times as much EV power in production cars is pushing it.

In what vision concept car was that? Yeah exactly

Can't speak for you but I can confess I have no f#cking idea what all these words even mean. Sounds like a Doc Brown invention tbh
We'll see it come to light in a production car one day, and then we'll compare it to the competition.

The technology has been subjected to intensive real-world testing conditions for the past 2+ some years. First in M-B C257 CLS and then EQE sedan-bodied mules and later camo'd production bodied AMG 4 door GT EV prototypes It will appear in serial production form sometime in the first half of 2026. It has long passed the "concept phase".

A used one? Maybe, but Tesla hasn't been selling a configurable Model S in the UK for quite a long time now. Also a Model S plaid was a >£100,000 car, so.... Yeah maybe a GLC AMG with 900hp could be competitive.

Its not just the power. Its the light weight and compact axial flux motors.

In the EV power race the Germans are years behind Tesla/Lucid and now BYD/Zeekr/Xaomi and other Chinese EVs. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S took 4 years to catch up with the Tesla Model S Plaid in output with the new GT model. BMW and Mercedes are only jumping on the 1000PS and above band wagon now and I bet in the next 2 years Tesla and Lucid will bring out 1800PS monsters and again leave the Germans in their wake.

To be honest I am not interested in these heavy horsepower monster saloons/SUVs. I am more interested in the cheaper/small car EV's that are now been launched such as the Renault 4/5, VW ID1 etc. The challenge with these small cars, is the battery size/weight/range ratios. They are the cars that need lightweight power dense small batteries to provide a 500 to 650km range. We need to see a 40kwh battery only weigh 150kg and achieve 500km WLTP range and a 55kwhr battery weigh 250kg and achieve 685km WLTP range. These batteries also need to be charged with 200kw of power from 10% to 80% in 15min.

Precisely what we need to see in greater numbers on our roads here in the EU. The "people's cars" that will really get e-mobility rolling. Provided that regulators, urban planners and manufacturers exercise reason.
