Sometimes you should pause before you hit post reply and read your own post. It is in poor taste to write this about anyone. Perhaps you should take a break from the internet for a while.

He clearly shouldn’t be here. Not sure why or how he even got back on here. And you wonder why no one gives a shit about a Cadillac here.

The days of "built to a standard, not to a price" are long gone. MB (and its German competitors) are now mainstream brands. Sure, there's a bit more prestige associated with owning a Benz but they are no longer the aspirational brand they once were.

That may be true here but to the public at large the aspiration to own a Benz is still tremendous. Now for people who are more up to date on what’s going on with the brand yes the magic of the 80s and early 90s is mostly all gone. A lot of younger buyers and people who just see the badge don’t know this yet. They see screens and what not and are buying.

I work with a lot of younger millennials and older Gen-Z'ers and I cant think of one of these people who would consider buying a Benz. The "aspirational" brand for these folks is Tesla.

It varies. Mercedes still sells a ton of vehicles to everyone. People who like Tesla in my experience are totally clueless about cars. It’s like having a new iPhone or state of the current art tv, not a car for driving.

Half arsed this, half arsed that new VW ID.6, half arsed that BMW iX, everything is half arsed. What the fork is going on?

Exactly what every German CEO said- they will be rolling out EVs in a manner that doesn't destroy their profit margins. What they didn't elaborate on was the fact that some entries into the EV market during this transition aren't going to be as strong as others.

Hmm, I don´t know, if you know the r/cars subreddit on reddit, but the usual r/cars users loathe touchscreens very much, but..... when it comes about, which interior they think are the best, then you hear vehicles like the RAM 1500 or some Volvo/Polestar models. So I guess things like a large touchscreen or the widescreen were the reasons, why many people bought MB cars during the last years.

Herbert is gonna cry, because they developed an extra platform for their EV efforts and yet people call it half arsed lel.

I miss when Mercedes chased engineering perfection, do that and the sales take care of themselves.

Agreed. But what alternative do you suggest? MB wait another 4 years to have dedicated platforms ready and then introduce all of these EV's when the market has already run away to competitors? Then they'll be crucified by shareholders, take a hammering in terms of brand image, lose significant market share and sales momentum etc. for being a complete laggard. They have no choice but to get these stopgap vehicles out there asap.

This looks good from a design POV.

Bonus interior quality comment - The door pull handles on the GLA and GLB interiors are absolutely appalling. They feel like one of my kids toys. Why did they not just use the same handles as the A/CLA?

Well said!
