Hey all. Finally took the plunge and traded in my always loved but stiff Audi A4 S-Line Avant for this 'triple black' S6 Prestige. Have only been able to enjoy about 40 miles so far but it's been nothing but smiles.

Looking forward to sharing impressions of the car once I get in some quality time. For now I'm just trying to figure out how to stream music from my phone... buttons, buttons, more buttons.

BTW - I haven't been the most active member these past few seasons but shout out to all the old timers who have been an endless source of information over the years. Might have not chosen the S6 were it not for your secondhand guidance.

Nice ride, congrats and welcome back ! I was wondering where you have been.

Those RS style wheels work great with the black exterior, and the carbon fiber interior trim is a very nice touch. Your dog seems to be very impressed as well.
How come you didn't go for the S6 Avant this time around? Are you going to get some paint coating or sealant for that extra protection?

Hey Monster - Didn't go for the S6 Avant because I live in the damn USA. We're starved for wagons out here... you have your choice of the 328xi, Allroad, the Volvo thingie and... that's it. It's a sad state of affairs for us wagon lovers.

Good point about paint seal. I'm pretty clueless about these sorts of things. I take it that black paint will require extra TLC... any suggestions?

The paint on my previous car was pretty damaged from UV exposure and improper care so I made sure I do things right straight after I got my new car.

Paint protection generally repel against external chemical attacks such as bird droppings, water marks, dust and iron particles as well as minimizing the UV damage on the clear coat.

There are generally 2 types of paint protection, polymer sealant which is semi permanent, and ceramic/glass/quartz coating, which is permanent. There are heaps of info out there so if you want more help I can give you a few links.

In the end I think having something is better than nothing, and after seeing the condition of the paint on my old car, I wouldn't want to take the risk again.

Congrats. The facelifted A6 is a fantastic car and the progressive LED indicators alone are enough to make me want one.

Stunning car you got, congratulations, I am sure you will enjoy every moment behind the wheel.

Thanks all! Can't wait to spend more time behind the wheel. Something tells me this might be the last ICE car I ever buy so trying to make it count haha.

Hey Monster - would love more info if you have any. I'm eager to protect the paint since it's kept in an outside parking stall, not garaged.

Oh, you definitely need some proper clear coating on top of your existing paint, as well as some interior treatment for your leather trim and dash surfaces to prevent cracking and fading. The most popular coating right now are Optimum Opti coat 2.0, Ceramic Pro, Gyeon MOHS Q2, CarPro Cquartz etc, have a look around on the following forums

I have learnt a lot from these guys, enjoy!
