Well executed design! Sharp & bold, being a Kia! IMO, if it was a Maserati, it would sell better than the struggling Ghibli.

MT is slowly starting to get the message; more Pobst, less Lieberman.

Kind of sad that despite all the engineering and benchmarking efforts, the biggest negative is and will remain that Kia badge.

IMO, if it was a Maserati, it would sell better than the struggling Ghibli.

But the reality is that the Maserati name has so much cachet. Less than 1% will cross shop.

I haven't sat in the Stinger, yet but I'm sure interior quality is bettter than the Ghibli, save the leather sourcing.

What was the name of the other guy who used to be in the videos with Lieberman and what happened to him since we stopped seeing him in the videos.

Jason and before that Carlos Lago. Jason recently left MT and is now on an automotive program no one has ever heard of. Carlos is at Edmunds - an automotive outlet that's seen better days.

Slightly related: I didn't even know Top Gear USA got a reboot

I thought Carlos Lago was at Edmunds then came back to MT?

I think on most of our lists for dream jobs at some point in time was/is Automotive Journalist, especially with the cars they drive and how wined & dined they are, but job stability does not seem to be a part of their vocabulary.

Damn that Kia Stinger is a real looker!

OT: Ya, I don't know whats going on with the journalists, there's been high turnover at virtually every outlet

Everybody seems to have left DriveTribe as well - seems like they ran out of seed money.
Jethro Bovingdon is headed to Motor Trend
Henry Catchpole is gone over to Carfection
Steve Sutcliffe is now at EVO
Dan Prosser has gone to Autocar

And this is all within the last couple months.

Interesting review from Catchpole:

Sat in one today. Not bad. Not bad at all. Tight interior with decent quality. It’s a nice but unproven choice imo.

Sat in one today myself, and I have the same sentiments. The exterior design is well-executed. Larger in person than I had expected, but for it's size and since it's a hatcback, I was expecting more cargo space as it seemed shallow.

Huyndai is bringing all the boys to the yeard with the i30N hot hatch.

I think KIA missed a trick by not packaging this awesome proposition into a hatchback at a price people would consider decent.

While I was in the area, I also stopped by the Hyundai dealer as well because I was wondering if they'd gotten the new Genesis G70. Unfortuntely, on-sale date in the US is Jan 2019. While there, I checked out the Elantra GT. For what it is, materials were decent and space was pretty good too. If I was in need of a 4-door hatch, I'd include it on the list. This was not something I'd say 2-3 years ago. Hyundai/KIA keep making solid strides.
