XC60 [Official] 2017 Volvo XC60

The Volvo XC60 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars since 2008. The XC60 is part of Volvo's 60 Series of automobiles, along with the S60, S60 Cross Country, V60, and V60 Cross Country. The first generation model introduced a new style for the 60 Series models. Along with the rest of the line-up, the first-generation XC60 was refreshed in 2013. Similarly, the second-generation model, released in 2017, is the first in the series. The car was named Car of the Year Japan for 2017–2018.
So, if you spec a light coloured upholstery, only the armrest will be of the same colour?

The door would be the same colour but only the arm rest is still only leather. Unlike rivals and similar priced Volvos, there is no leather on the door panel itself and the entire door is made out of hollow and relatively cheap plastic.

How would you score XC60's interior, on a scale 1-10, @Busty ?
(And Volvo's interiors in general? How do they compare to the Audi?)

Can I answer, last week I spent a couple of days being driven around in an XC90 T8 Inscription, it's incrediably nice, but today I had a Q7 loaner from Audi whilst my A6 was being serviced, the Volvo is close, it's easily X5 level but the Q7 is a step up again, Audi are very good a plastics, better than anyone else IMO. Also the air compressor for the air suspension is pretty noisy when you're stopped and the car lowers itself, you don't hear it in the Audi.

The T8 is very quick, it really moves, I haven't driven an X5M or the like but I was impressed, for such a big vehicle I can't imagine needing anything faster. It's also amazingly comfortable, even on 22 inch wheels. I'd buy one if I could afford it.

I like Carwow reviews, quite ingenious and funny with the testing of the pedestrian evasive system. This car looks very impressive indeed, I like the styling and the interior looks great.

My local Volvo dealer had a new xc60 on the yard today, had a good poke around, my first impression is it looks and feels smaller than the previous model, the interior is very nice although it looks like it was built to a lower price point than the S/V90 models.

I didn't get to have a drive, but I will next week.

Because it is.

Polestar, the performance brand of Volvo Cars, has introduced the latest generation powertrain optimisation for the new Volvo XC60. With the Polestar enhancement, the new Volvo XC60 T8 delivers 421 horsepower, matching the optimised XC90 T8 as the most powerful Volvo models ever built.

The Polestar optimisation improves five key areas of the powertrain while retaining the Volvo warranty, class-leading emission levels, consumption of 2.1 l/100 km and a pure electric range of 45 kilometres for the T8.

Experience from more than two decades on the track with Cyan Racing, the motorsport partner of Polestar, has transformed the engine performance, throttle response, off-throttle response, gearshift speed and hold, taking the XC60 to a new level of driving pleasure.

"Our goal is to create usable performance in everyday driving situations for Volvo owners who want an enhanced driving experience," said Henrik Fries, Vice President, Research and Development at Polestar. "The new XC60 has provided us with an excellent base to work on with a dynamic chassis and a state of the art powertrain. With the Polestar optimisation, it makes the new Volvo XC60 a true drivers' car."

Two key features of the optimisation are the improved engine performance and gearbox functionality.

The enhancements for the engine are made to provide greater power and torque in the mid-range of the engine, the area most often used in everyday-driving, for example when joining a highway, overtaking or exiting a corner.

The gearbox shifts faster, gearshift points have been calibrated to utilise the optimised mid-range engine performance, and the gear-hold function maintains the same gear when cornering with high lateral g-force in order to avoid unsettling the balance of the car.

A total of five XC60 models are available for Polestar optimisation, including the T8, T6, T5, D5 and D4.

Amazing job by Volvo, it literally kills bland new X3 in terms of design.
I actually agree - I think this little Volvo is an absolute blinder of a design. Pity though that, unlike the X3, its engine is mounted sideways (and all the concessions that come with that).

I'm sure in a generation or two the X3 will go the same way!

It's really grown on me. It looks really good with a wonderful stance. Shame about the interior quality as pointed out by @Centurion. Unfortunately even the door panels looks downmarket compared to the other vehicles in the class and more suitable for a vehilce at least 1 or two categories lower.

In terms of street cred it will probably sit a bit below the German trio, but there won't be a shortage of buyers wanting to purchase something a bit different to the usual suspects.
