A5/S5/RS5 [Official] Audi RS5

I thought Audi couldn't make a better car then the RS6, but they did.
it looks soooo good. hopefuly it will be turbocharged, maybe in the future
then it would be the perfect coupe :eusa_clap Dreamcar! :usa7uh::bowdown:

I really hope that they will only do the RS5 Coupé and Cabrio. The sportback is just soooo ugly, I cant stand it. Only the roofline of course.

And dont forget. There wont be any new RS4. Audi have already said that. They will focus 100% on this RS5.

And I gotta tell ya. This is the most exciting Audi since the R8 :)

It will be very interesting how Audi prices it. If it indeed ends up costing more than $70k as speculated, that is GTR territory and that will be an interesting comparison. I still remember reading one between B5 RS4 and R34 GTR.

I dunno, I think Betty has a point here. Team BMW comes over to this thread to share his "opinion" about an obviously new and exciting car from Audi and declares it's shortcomings. And Betty points out that those same "weaknesses" are present in M badge guise. Yes a different category, but a fair observation.

And BTW, doesn't it sound a bit premature to knock the handling of this car? I thought "27" was the BMW insider?:t-hands:

Scott was pointing out that the A5 might be a harder challenge to build a car like this from. I agree his statement could be regarded as something of a stone-toss in the BMW M glasshouse. On the other hand, if the A5 is a more complicated base to start from, that could maybe account for some of that suspected higher price tag...

I know I have been involved in some of the BMW talk in this thread (and the M3 will be mentioned again) but it would be great if we could take the usual "mine is better than yours" over at the Internal Combustion thread.

Oh, that's good. Oh, that's very good indeed.

Let's see if Audi managed to combine the highly praised dynamics of the B7 RS4 with the B8 S4's trick, torque-vectoring diff and new front differential placement.

As far as looks go: quite stunning and I never thought I'd say that about an A5-based car. The car looks menacingly aggressive without being OTT. It's got a huge air of visual substance about it. An RS model delivered in classic Audi style - massive presence without being brash or overdone. I like it a lot.

Still, it's not my... [heads off to that other thread] ;)

Can't wait for those engine specs.

Everything seems perfect about this car... let's hope its not ruined with a silly price tag as the previous RS4.

Yes, apples too oranges. What an astute observation you have made.

That was EXACTLY my point. I wouldn't have even mentioned the X5/X6 M if Scott hadn't brought up the possible shortcomings of the Audi.

But you did, and I think that was a bit unfair from your part. Audi don't have a good history when it comes to good handling cars and that's what Scott was pointing out.

Your comment was childish. Grow up dude. And apples to oranges, come be serious now.:t-crazy2:

Ooo, no, hang on a minute braaf. Not in this thread you don't...

Your assertion that Audi doesn't have a good history when it comes to "good handling cars" is as wrong and uninformed as it is antagonistic. Please see Audi B7 RS4, Audi B8 S4 and Audi R8 as cars that, all subjectivity removed, are lauded as brilliant handling cars in every respect.

Betty responded to SCOTT's mincing about in an Audi thread - seemingly criticising the RS5 to being some form of compromised machine. Which is an interesting opinion from the BMW CM team as an aside.

This thread is not about: BMW, X5/6M, SCOTT27 or anything other than the RS5. Understood, everyone?

I am not the Audi guy / enthusiast, but I have to say....I have always liked the A5 and this RS5 looks stunning!:usa7uh:

I get wat you're saying and agree with you. Of late, Audis have a come a long way in the handling department, but not enough to credit it in the same league as BMW who have been doing it for years. The X5/X6 comments was exactly why I responded the way I did. Lets keep it RS5 people. :t-cheers:

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
