The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. PS
I hope you guys enjoy this..cause this was ONE amazingly painfull post..took so loooong...damn:D
ohh and read this.. it shows clearly that BMW was not aiming for a GT thingy..they was going race..just read their comments on the competition..
OMG is all i can say
Once again ENJOY:D

Re: BMW M3 E92 Concept/Production Picture Thread

Okay one can not come around and say that they where aming for it to be as the reviews says it is.. they where obviously going for something crazy..
with words like:
what makes the M3 diffrent?? answer: Road feedback
and the talk about it being borned on the N-Ring ( hope to hell its faster than the RS4 if its developed on the ring.. they had acess to the RS4.. they must have wanted to beat the competition)..
and then they diffrentiate it from AMG cause it has genes of a thoroughbred race car..

all this talk must mean they where aiming for a M3 as we are used to ..and not what we are hearing from the reviews..

PS
Other than that..it sounds like a fanboy wrote the whole damn thing..especially the comparo part with the other cars..lol:D..

but still its nice... i hope AMG makes such a large brochure for the C63 also..
and the M3 looks better ( best) in white..

Re: BMW M3 E92 Concept/Production Picture Thread

I'm not trying to see the E92 M3 borchure until it's in my hands. :D

Re: BMW M3 E92 Concept/Production Picture Thread

They talk about N-ring and how their M are aiming for racing with all M-cars, no news here. But it doesn't change the fact that the M3 is built less raw and more comfortable than the previous M3 (E46). I dont care what they write in a broschure, the new M3 isnt what it used to be and its a big shame they didnt make the new M3 rawer and sportier, they obviously made the new M3 more user-friendly and easier to live with on dailybasis.

i think you should take a look..cause this aint some normal broshure..
i heard it came with a little piece of a M3 Engine..

Lol thats serious.. pagani or ferrari doesent even do that:D

Ok so whilst the brochure smacks of the stuff that makes BMW's marketing department almost as legendary as its engineering department [;)] there is a whole heap of useful and plainly objective information. All of it is factual and then worded in a way that lends itself to the M Philosophy.

Now I urge you doubting Tho///mases, after reading this can you objectively state that the new M3 isn't an improvement in every conceivable measure and manner over its predecessor?

Oh and just one other thing, the brochure pics of that E92 M3 Coupé resplendent in white is enough for me to judge that this car is going to rock my world when I see it in the tin-and-carbon-fibre-plastic.

I'm not gonna lie, that artic white paint job speaks volumes for the M3! I'm ashamed to admit that I got a little aroused.:icon_redf

It's big an heavy and that's not exactly an improvement.

Hmmm ... Yes, this have been the trend in automotive industry since ... hm ... 60's. Bigger & heavier with every generation. Thanks to all safety standards more or less. And more & more convenience features over the time.

Using lightweight material doesn't mean the car will be lighter then the predecessor , but being less heavier than without all the lightweight materials used. Controlled weight gain.

All the chassis reinforcements, bigger body, more convenience features, more electronics (more cables, bigger batteries), active suspension, bigger engine, bigger gearbox, etc. Imagine all the weight without lightweight materials being used!

Considering that they started with the 3er that weighs around 1610 kg, I think M did a good job to limit the weight to 1655 kg despite the bigger engine and much bigger brakes and beefed up body. And also, all weights are not equal, stuff like center of gravity, moment of inertia and unsuspended mass matters - good to see that M is paying attention to all these details.

I belive that trend goes back to the 50s or so.

That's the half side. There are drive by wire technologies witch replace the old mecanical parts and in the process reduce weight. Think F1.
The problem is BMW M seems to go half way.

yeah, it's much better to have stuff like brake by wire like MB's had and have recalls and stop using it in the new models.

i allready posted this in the M3 thread.. and it took a damn long time:D..
close this thread NOW:D..j/k

Some of us don't want to go driving around in a Caparo T1.

Think F1? That's all you ever think about and it's clouding your judgement about what is practical in real world motoring.

Having poured over my EVO issue 107 featuring the Caparo T1 media day (more to the point - the fiasco that they day ended up being) I've come to my own conclusions that the T1 is a stillborn pipedream.

Also looking at it's proportions and especially cabin space - I have this little parting thought:

What's the difference between foreplay with Pamela Anderson and riding shotgun in a Caparo T1?

You feel a bigger tit riding shotgun in the T1...

Gimme an M3 thank you.

Simply a good idea bad execution case. And I belive Bosch is most likely to be blamed

Not really an argument is it. One could also say making the M3 have a double personality is also a good idea. And the fact that it was developped with Bosch doesn't matter IMO. They put it in the car and that's that. Same goes for any carmanufacturor. It's being tested throughout the testing of the car and it's no like the brand can say " hey, it's not our problem, blame Bosch " If you can take the credit for ESP, you can take the blame for Brake By Wire.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
